I suspect a good number of people remember the last time the Reds were in the Cali league, back when Steve Smitherman strode the earth like a colossus. Odd thing about those years is they produced a lot more pitching mirages than hitting ones.

Doug, you act like almost everyone who goes from Dayton-to-Bakersfield sees their stats greatly improve.
Oh wait, they do! Seriously, I've thought about that many times. As jazzed as I am about William Hamilton, the fact that a guy like Theo Bowe can go from "Interstate Love Song" in Dayton to "Borderline All-Star" in Bakersfield makes me believe the Cal League is a hitter's league and then some. Hey Doug, you know what else it makes me believe? Tony Cingrani's stats there this season in 10 starts (no small sample) were remarkable. (Winning.) |
