Saturday 7/14/2012 Minor-League Updates
Xavier Paul's 3-run HR is the only scoring so far tonight for Louisville, which trails 7-3 after six. This, of course is after scoring 22 runs last night.

Lotzkar, who's been struggling a mite lately, gave up three in the first for Pensacola. One was unearned on an error by Hamilton. Blue Wahoos trail 3-0 after two. Lotzkar does have 5 K in 2.2 IP.

Hamilton walked, stole (5,109) and scored on a single by Fellhauer for 'Cola's first run.

Re: Saturday 7/14/2012 Minor-League Updates
Watching the Wahoos game. I'm impressed by Hamilton's patience and eye at the plate, especially for only seeing pitches from the left side for around 3 years now.
I think it also should be noted that I don't think he will be able to run like he has in the minors as he moves into AAA and the bigs. He just stole second on a pitchout due to a poor throw by the catcher. Yes, impressive that he stole a base on a pitchout, but he was out with a good throw. On the other hand, the effect that he has on pitchers while he is on base can't be understated. Just seeing it one time, the pitcher had to pitch out, then tried the "wrap around" move at second, then threw to second again, then threw the ball into centerfield. It's no surprise that Theo Bowe killed the ball with Hamilton on the bases all the time in Bakersfield. I wouldn't be surprised to see Fellhauer have a big second half in the same way.

The Bats have closed to within 7-5 after seven. H-Rod is 2-4 with a 2B.

Navarro walk-off grand slam. Wow. Louisville wins 10-8.

The Bats come alive. How 'bout 'em?
Costanzo got the rally started with a one-out double. Soto walked with the bases loaded and two outs, and then Navarro delivered. He's having a great year, by the way. Makes a winner of Joseph, who gave up one run in two innings. |

Jonathan Moscot started for Billings and went two easy innings. Joel Bender is on in relief. It's 0-0 in the third. Winker, who left the game last night, is not in the lineup. Same for Carlos Sanchez.

Hamilton walked again but was caught stealing for the first time in AA, I believe. Pensacola trails 6-1 in the sixth. Bryson Smith has a couple hits.

Lotzkar's weird line: 4 IP, 2 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 6 K.

Overmatched isn't the word I would use. Guys who are overmatched give up tons of hits. He just needs to find the strikezone more often. Have to wonder if the workload is catching up with him at this point. He is already at a career high in innings.

Re: Saturday 7/14/2012 Minor-League Updates
Going by the numbers, I wouldn't say that. His ERA is not good (5.01), but he has struck out 74 in 59 innings and given up less than a hit an inning. He's been struggling, for sure--definitely walking too many--but it doesn't appear that the hitters are too much for him.
