Evidently, there are no Southern League games tonight, so the Wahoos have the night off.

Dayton lost 4-1, Gerson threw 6 innings and allowed 4 runs (3 ER). O'Rear pitched two shutout innings despite 3 walks, but he did get 4 Ks. Carlos Contreras struck out 2 batters in a scoreless ninth. Juan Perez had 2 hits including a double, Diaz had one hit, and Wright had a solo HR. Defensively, Diaz and Terry both had errors.

Re: Wednesday 7/18/2012 Minor-League Updates

Dayton was felled 4-1 by the Clinton Lumberjacks.

Juan Perez was 2-4 with a doubled. Ryan Wright homered for the Dragons only run and Sammy Diaz singled. That was the sum total of Dayton's offense.

Stalin Gerson (L, 4-7) 6.0 8 4 3 3 3 0 4.43
Lucas O'Rear 2.0 0 0 0 3 4 0 5.40
Carlos Contreras 1.0 0 0 0 0 2 0 3.00

Evidently a travel day for the Pioneer League too - no Billings game. The AZL Reds do not play tonight either.

Re: Wednesday 7/18/2012 Minor-League Updates

The Blaze lineup tonight (sans Hamilton, Barnhart and Lutz):

Theo Bowe CF
Kurtis Muller RF
Steve Selsky DH
Travis Mattair 1B
Juan Duran LF
Chris Berset C
Niko Vasquez 3B
Devin Lohman SS
James Ewing 2B

It wouldn't surprise me to see Juan Perez or Ryan Wright headed to Bakersfield soon.

Steve Selsky singled in the top of the first and Billy'd 2nd, but that was it. No score with the High in the Desert coming to bat.

Wow that is a weak and uninteresting lineup.

It's amazing how virtually all of the Reds prospects are concentrated in Pensacola or Billings at this point. Bakersfield and Dayton are particularly devoid of talent.

Re: Wednesday 7/18/2012 Minor-League Updates

In the bottom of the 1st, Rogers gives up a single and a double, but there was a pickoff in between. No score after 1 complete.

Re: Wednesday 7/18/2012 Minor-League Updates

The Blaze go down in order in the 2nd and 3rd, Rogers is far less fortunate though. He gives up 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd on five singles and two more in the bottom of the 3rd on a walk and a dinger. 4-0 HD after 3. A walk, 6 singles, a double and a home run in three innings - he's lucky it isn't worse.

Re: Wednesday 7/18/2012 Minor-League Updates

The HD starter has retired 10 in a row and 12 of 13 total. Blaze trail 4-0 after 4 complete.

Re: Wednesday 7/18/2012 Minor-League Updates

The Blaze break into the scoring column with two in the top of the fifth.

A walk to Juan Duran, a single by Chris Berset, a FC by Niko Vazquez forced Berest at 2nd. Duran scored on a throwing error though. Devin Lohman singled Vazquez to 3B, but was CS. James Ewingthen walkd and Theo Bowe singled in Vasquez. The HD lead is now 4-2 after five innings.
