Is there a mute button on the crowd today? You could hear a pin drop on that double.

I agree with this with the exception of the "sad-sack" part. Arizona is better than their record shows IMO.

It's not baseball. It's not having Votto. I imagine you're going to see a lot of losses without Votto.

"So the diamondbacks pitcher has as many hits as the Reds in this game" Yep, he's a bit grumpy.

Re: 7.19.12 Diamondbacks @Reds 12:35 start
Well, I got off work early today and got a nice surprise in seeing that it was a day game today. I'd completely forgotten. *sigh* Well, I don't think I'm going to waste any more of my extra time off with this. Just depressing. Hopefully if anybody sticks around they can bring us some better luck. Go Reds. *sigh*

Starting pitching was due for a correction. Can't really get too upset about a few bad starts. Team has pitched so well.
As for the offense, RedsZone is replete with everyone's thoughts, no need to repeat. Still waiting for those "career norms" to kick in though. |

Votto is out for say, 4 weeks, or about 25 games. Losing Votto is on average worth a loss unless he doesn't recover as soon as planned (could be worth more or less depending on how well Votto would have actually played over that span, but that's the average). It of coruse hurts, but there is so many factors that contribute to winning ball games, that even the likes of Votto don't have THAT significant of an impact over a small sample. It shows the difference between a likely playoff team (pre injured Votto Reds) and an average team (post Votto Reds) isn't that significant over 4 weeks. Thankfully the injury is not more serious. Needless to say, not much Votto was going to do to help games like the last few days, where neither the pitching, fielding, or hitting has been noteworthy. |
