Drew Pomeranz, who experienced left arm soreness during his start last Friday night, was skipped during his normal turn in the rotation on Tuesday, but he has been throwing without pain and will return to face Arroyo and the Reds.

"We just want to get him back out there pitching. That's how he is going to learn," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "We wanted to make sure that physically nothing is wrong and get him back out there. On Friday, it will have been a week."

Re: 7.26.12 Reds @ Rockies

I'd like to see Xaiver Paul get a shot in the 1 or 2 hole. Maybe Stubbs will stay hot though. Looks like Cardinals going to pull it out over the Cubbies.

Could be a high scoring game with an inconsistent young lefty against Bronson Arroyo in Coors.

Arroyo has not faced the Rockies this year. His last start against them was 9.10.11 and he only lasted 1 ip with 3 hr, and 6er.

Against a lefty?

Paul is likely an awful option at the top of the order against anyone. Stubbs is definitely superior against the lefty.

Re: 7.27.12 Reds @ Rockies

Given the "success" of our leadoff hitters I don't know I'd call Paul an awful option but against a lefthander I agree, Stubbs is definitely the better call, especially as he's been hot lately

On the minor league game thread, Stephenson is pitching in Dayton. Tons of scouts at the game clocking his pitches. They just said one of his pitches hit 101 mph.

Stubbs in the 2 hole is so much better statistically which I find puzzling but it is a clear difference

I'm just glad his name isn't Lance Stephenson.

........and I'm a Bearcat fan too, but didn't really care for Lance.

Cozart grounds out to SS.
Stubbs pops up to 2B in shallow LF.
BP grounds out to short.

0-0 after top of 1.
