Tomorrow - Reds could mathematically eliminate the Astros from the division

Pretty crazy, but with a Reds win and Astros loss tomorrow, they will be officially out for the division with 36 left to be played.

They were 'realistically' out of it 3 months ago

They were realistically out of it in spring training.

The Astros would have to win 36 games in a row, and the Reds lose 36 for them to win the division. This is hardly news, the 'Stros blow.

And if the Reds were to drop 36 in a row that would mean both Pit and Stl would have 6 wins and would have to go 2-28 or worse in their remaining games. I'm guessing they have 6 games remaining between them, meaning one of those teams would have to win 3 or more...so the Astros could finish 36-0 and still are already eliminated. That all being said, it will be fun to watch the Reds start "eliminating" teams as early as tonight.

As nice as that sounds, I will feel much better when it's the Cards and Pirates who are mathematically eliminated.

It is going to suck next season when they move to the AL and we don't get those easy wins against them.

Astros gone...Cubs next. With a magic number of 9 this could be done in 5 days. I say it will take seven. I have officially guessed Saturday Sept. 1 as the day the Reds eliminate the Cubs.

After tomorrow, 6 of our next 12 are against the Astros. That should make the worriers chill if only for a few seconds.

Houston is still alive for the Wild Card. In the words of Justin Bieber, Never Say Never!

Or in the words of Black Sabbath, Never Say Die.

That may not make sense, but any Sabbath title is 10x better than any Beiber quote.

I once hated the Astros. Just pity them now.

Eliminated the Cubs for best record in National League. 2 down 13 to go. Next up, the Rockies; magic number 4. In theory this could be done Tuesday, I am going to guess it happens Wednesday.
