Saturday 9/8/12 Minor League Update - Blaze Game 1
Bakersfield, our lone minor league playoff team, starts its best of 5 division final with Modesto tonight. Blaze jump out to a 3-0 lead. Devin Lohman homers in the first, then the Blaze get two in the 2nd. Chris Berset has an RBI single, then steals 2nd, moves to 3rd on a passed ball and scores on a wild pitch. Modesto gets one in the 3rd, then Bakersfield answers with a Travis Mattair solo homer. Modesto gets two more in the 5th, and midway through the inning Bakerfield leads 4-3.

Modesto gets 1 in the 6th to tie it. Josh Smith out now as we go to the 7th, Daniel Wolford in to pitch.

Blaze retake the lead in the bottom of the 7th. Joe Terry walks and Theo Bowe delivers the go-ahead run with a double. Josh Smith went 6 innings. Wolford went an inning and two-thirds. Carlos Contreras comes on with two outs and none on in the 8th.

Contreras gives up a single but he gets nailed stealing. Blaze lead 5-4, middle 8th.

Not a productive bottom of the 8th for Bakersfield, as it's 3 batters and 3 Ks. Heading to the 9th up 5-4.

...And this one belongs to the Blaze! Bakersfield gives up a hit in the 9th, but not a run, and wins 5-4.
