Usually they were eliminated from the playoff chase by that time.

Talk about a morale booster. The subs contribute to score 5, Simon gets a save in a playoff clinching game.

Next stop division title!

Screwy thing with the magic number is that the Reds could clinch after their game if they win and Cards lose because of central time zone difference. So the walkoff celebration like 2010 may not work out this year.
