Birthdays 9/26
Slim pickings today...
Reds: Dave Martinez (47) Much-traveled OF spent the 1992 season with the Reds. It wasn't one of his best. Others: Dave Duncan (66) As much as all right-thinking people hate the Cardinals, you have to admire him. Bobby Shantz (86) Teensy lefty (5'6" and 139 lbs.) whjo led the American League once in wins and once in ERA. Danny Ray Herrera's role model???

Re: Birthdays 9/26
chico, let's add Eddie Erautt 88.
He had 4 lackluster seasons and part of a 5th as a pitcher with the Reds in the late 40s and early 50s. Career ERA of 4.86. I list him simply because he was on those terrible early 50s Reds teams, but to me, as a kid, these guys were to be worshiped. I remember thinking back then that 'If only they would try harder I'm sure they could make it to 6th place'. Didn't usually happen. Names like his are really fun to say.
