Beach Boys fire Beach Boys

Or, Mike Love fires Al Jardine, Brian Wilson and David Marks.

Re: Beach Boys fire Beach Boys

Marks has been fired before, he's used to it, Love is an Arse and Wilson's voice is toast.

Seriously they were never a good live band and the stuff they did from 66-73 was the best stuff they did and none of it was designed for live shows.

One less State Fair band on the circuit

Not surprised. Always heard bad things about Mike Love. Whole band can't stand him, apparently.

Word. I'm a huge fan and I really wouldn't bother with a live show.

If you haven't, listen to Surf's Up and Sunflower. Great stuff you probably hadn't heard.

Re: Beach Boys fire Beach Boys

I've been a Beach Boys fan pretty much my whole life -- for reasons I don't fully understand; sometimes it just turns out that way -- but... yeah. Mike and Brian have been oil and water from the beginning, just about. I'm more than a little surprised this year's big reunion tour made it this long.

It's hard to fathom how this happened when they've gotten along so famously in the past:

No, I haven't. I'll give it a listen.

Re: Beach Boys fire Beach Boys

Mike Love says he didn't, but it seems to me that his explanation has a few holes.
