Sitting Bruce against the lefty. As good a time as any to get him one last day off. Nice to see Ludwick back in there. I hope they go all out for the last three against the Cards and get in a bit of a groove going into the post season.

Bruce has been historically putrid vs. Wandy. And in a fair number AB's.

Lineup change....

The Reds made a lineup change. Ryan Ludwick scratched because of the wet ground. Ludwick is fine and could pinch-hit. “It’s not the best out there for a groin,” acting manager Chris Speier said):

Brandon Phillips 4
Wilson Valdez 6
Joey Votto 3
Todd Frazier 9
Chris Heisey 7
Miguel Cairo 5
Drew Stubbs 8
Ryan Hanigan 2
Johnny Cueto RHP

Re: 9/30/2012 Reds at Pirates

Looks like the rain is still coming down out there...what's the forecast?

DatDude strikes out looking after fouling off a couple 1-2 pitches.
Valdez singles to right.
...and they bring out the tarps.

That was just strange. Rain delay, they don't bother with the tarp, then they discuss it with the managers and bring everybody back out. Rain delay of like 3 minutes. Weird.

and now the sun's out and the rain's stopped. Apparently this game's being played in Orlando during the spring. Odd.

~my bad...rain has slowed, not stopped.

Votto hits a dribbler off the end of his bat to the second baseman, effectively sacrificing Valdez to second. 2 outs.
Frazier pops out to the second baseman. 3 outs.
Reds 0 - Pirates 0 in the middle of the 1st inning.

Cairo singles up the middle.
Stubbs absolutely drills one that the SS catches one step to his right. 2 outs.
Hanigan works a walk in a nine pitch at bat.
Johnny looks really bad swinging the bat at a strike and 2 balls. 3 outs.
Reds 0 - Pirates 0 - middle of the second.

I fthey really wanted to help Cueto they would not bat Valdez 2nd. Mind boggling and I am not going to stop harping on it somewhere, beacuse I am too far away from Cincy to call and complain on a talk show about it.

Re: 9/30/2012 Reds at Pirates

Alvarez sends one to the wall in left that Heisey tracks down. 1 out.
Snyder strikes out looking. 2 outs.
Barmes grounds to third and Cairo scoops it and throws, but the ball drops behind him. They score it a hit.
Barajas hits a broken bat dribbler for an infield hit.
Rodriguez fouls out down the 3rd base line. 3 outs.

Reds 0 - Pirates 0 after 2 complete.
