Jack Hannahan close to signing with reds
Just saw on Twitter the reds are likely to sign him to a 2 year deal.

Pretty good move if it happens. I figure he'd fill a valuable Cairo-like role, but be more like good Miggy than bag Miggy with his range on defense.
Nothing flashy, but a good baseball move. Emmanuel Burris (if he makes the roster) was a good scoop even, I thought. The idea of guys like Valdez, Cairo and even Willie Harris wasn't terrible last year, they just happened to not pan out with their performances. Assuming they break camp, I'm more optimistic that Hannahan and Burris in defensive/super utility roles are marginal, but prudent improvements to the bench in 2013. |
