Greinke to the Dodgers
For 6 years, over $140 million.
The Yankees have officially relocated to L.A. County.

Re: Greinke to the Dodgers
It's just freaking insane what they've spent over the past year. IN-SANE!

I was hoping hoping the Rangers would be able to get him. I imagine they'll go all out to get Hamilton now.

Re: Greinke to the Dodgers
For all the money the Dodgers have spent, I still don't think they're the best team in the NL, or even their division for that matter. We'll see how Greinke handles the pressure of that huge contract. Crawford and Beckett are huge question marks, Adrian Gonzalez is in decline... sure, they're spending a lot of dough. But can't me as someone who says they're not spending it very wisely.

Re: Greinke to the Dodgers
It got me curious. Just since July of this year, the Dodgers have added....
Brandon League (Trade with M's) Shane Victorino (Trade with Phils) Hanley Ramirez Randy Choate (Trade with Fish) Adrian Gonzalez Josh Beckett Carl Crawford Nick Punto (Trade with BoSox) Resign League 22million/3years (could be 33.5/3 with incentives) Won bidding on Hyun-Jin Ryu for 25.7 million (this was just to win the right to NEGOTIATE with him) They have until 4pm tomorrow to sign him or they just flushed the 25.7 million. Sign Greinke for 147 million/6 years. They had the highest payroll in the majors BEFORE they signed League & Greinke (and maybe Ryu) As of sept 2012... Dodgers, $193.8MM Phillies, $133.1MM Yankees, $119.1MM Cardinals, $92.8MM Angels, $92.3MM Tigers, $90.2MM Rangers, $84.4MM White Sox, $83.3MM Giants, $81.0MM Reds, $74.1MM Twins, $68.3MM Marlins, $67.5MM Blue Jays, $61.3MM Nationals, $58.6MM Diamondbacks, $55.0MM Mets, $54.5MM Orioles, $53.2MM Brewers, $52.4MM Rockies, $46.5MM Red Sox, $45.6MM Cubs, $41.8MM Mariners, $40.5MM Royals, $34.9MM Pirates, $27.9MM Padres, $26.0MM Athletics, $23.0MM Rays, $18.6MM Braves, $15.2MM Indians, $11MM Astros, $5.5MM Now tack on League, Greinke & Ryu. Good lord. Heck, they still owe 8.5 million a year to Ramirez. *rolls eyes*

Re: Greinke to the Dodgers
And so it begins...
The Dodgers make $280M a year just from their TV deal. To put that in perspective, the Dodgers could sign 10 more Grienke contracts and still not have to touch any of their other revenue streams, which are substantial. Another way to look at it, the Dodgers could go $82M over the Luxary Tax threshold, and still not have to touch any of their other revenue streams. Nearly half of the MLB teams payrolls are less than $82M.

If that's a posting fee, they only pay it if they sign him.

Re: Greinke to the Dodgers
I've rooted against the Yankees for years because they simply overpay for players and buy championships. Now I'll change my focus to the Dodgers and wish them to fall way short. I don't wish for major injuries, but it won't hurt my feelings if Greinke has a series of aggravating minor injuries that help waste the Dodgers investment in him. Same goes for other players. And none of these guys are getting any younger.

Re: Greinke to the Dodgers
I just read on MLBTR that Greinke is the 4th Dodger currently to make $20+M in a season joining Adrien Gonzalez, Matt Kemp and Carl Crawford.
That is insane. MLB salaries are out of whack again. Look for the Dodgers to buying a title here soon. Ridiculous.
