What moves are you left wishing for most?
Now or in the next 12 months? (Obviously there's not a whole lot left to do at the moment)
THIS OFFSEASON 1. Extend Latos 2. Extend Bailey NEXT OFFSEASON (general theme is to trade Ryan Ludwick and upgrade LF) 3. Give Choo a qualifying offer (that he likely turns down resulting in a draft pick for the Reds). If he accepts, immediately trade Ludwick to offset the salary. 4. If Latos and Bailey are extended, package 3 of Cingrani/Corcino/Leake/Travieso, Ludwick and the hitting prospect of their choice for Giancarlo Stanton. 5. If they can't get Stanton, package 2 of the above named pitchers + one of our 3B prospects (H-Rod, Vidal, Mejias-Brean, Rahier or Rosa) + Ludwick for Justin Upton. (#4 and #5 obviously assume neither Stanton nor Upton is dealt in the next 9 months)

Is this just an excuse to keep making Justin Upton posts since he is obviously not happening in '13?

Yeah, Beni.......I usually enjoy your enthusiasm and trade ideas, but this thread seems like a duplicate in some ways.

Re: What moves are you left wishing for most?
I was kind of disappointed when I read #4 (Stanton), but you redeamed yourself with #5 (Upton)
![]() I'd love to see Latos and Homer extended. Also a good idea to get a draft pick for Choo. I figure though that Ludwick is going nowhere if he has a decent 2013. If Frazier plays well in 2013, it might be a pretty boring offseason after 2013. I could see Walt trading for a young LF/3b targeted for arrival in 2015. Barring injuries (or the need to purge salaries), this team is set for awhile..

Re: What moves are you left wishing for most?
We only have 2 guaranteed years left of Chapman. Given his legendary success at closer/relief arm (albeit unknown as a starter) I think it would be wise to sign him for longer. Who knows, there could be a silver lining to him not starting a regular season game yet, meaning he could be signed to a long-term(ish) contract at a discounted starting pitcher price?

Re: What moves are you left wishing for most?
I call the Marlins and at least inquire into a Chapman for Stanton straight up deal. I understand how great Chapman's arm is. I'm not sold, however, on his durability or his control. If he had shoulder problems while relieving, what will starting do to him? Elbow trouble would make me less nervous, but shoulder scares the crap out of me.
I highly doubt just Chapman would be enough to acquire Stanton, but I'd at least see what it takes. When it comes to a young, cheap talent like Stanton, you've got nothing to lose by asking, however long the odds. |

Miami has that Cuban fan base. And I've been nervous about Chapman's arm durability too. I'd inquire and see what it would take. Chapman can swing both ways - starter or reliever.

Re: What moves are you left wishing for most?
Justin Upton rejects trade to the Mariners. www.mlbtraderumors.com
So you're telling me there's a chance... Apparently the offer was Nick Franklin, two relievers, and one of their top pitching prospects (Hultzen, Walker, or Paxton) Roughly the Reds equivalent of DiDi Gregorius, JJ Hoover, Sam LeCure, and one of our top pitching prospects (Cingrani, Corcino, or Stephenson) - most likely Stephenson. I'm happy we went the route of Choo for a much lower price, but I'd sure as heck be happy to revisit this next offseason. One year closer to free agency, maybe Upton could be had for Corcino or Cingrani + Leake and a reliever.

Re: What moves are you left wishing for most?
The move I'm wishing for, is for time to jump forward and it be the start of Spring Training.
I'm already tired of the offseason. Let's get it on!!!!
