Re: Manti Te'o didn't really have a dead girlfriend

A couple NFL writers I follow tweeted that there was chatter in the NFL circles that the Manti Te'o story would become historically big. Guess not.

On the other end, I don't buy that he was duped. Too many quotes about meeting her or seeing her.

It appears that he took it down. What did it say?

I think there needs to be a senate hearing to find the truth

Clowney's actually got about five up, and is still going as we speak. Not sure why you're not seeing it, Doug.

This is reminiscent of when we first started to hear about the Tiger Woods scandal, seeing all the concern mixed with confusion.

EDIT: ...DANG! Duped again! Though it would be amusing to see ESPN fooled again and get in an uproar about it.

Historically big would imply more than the idea that he's gay, IMO. That's just not as big a deal as many would believe anymore.

Is that what you're referring to, CE?

It's a shame any way you slice this. This will follow him forever.

He's lying.

Seriously, he should just admit it and move on.

Don't know that I agree with you in terms of the gay aspect. Yes its not a big deal to a lot of people, but in the macho world of the NFL it would still be huge. I bet there would be several players who would express reservations about playing on the same team.

So for Manti it could be huge if he were outed as gay.

First openly gay active major American athlete? That would be historic.
