Back in 1961, the then fledgling Beatles record their first sessions with fellow British musician Tony Sheridan, in Hamburg. He died yesterday at the age of 72.

Sheridan never rose to any great fame other than as a footnote to the Beatles saga, but he was a rockin' guitarist and I've always loved the dynamic leads he played on this version of the song "My Bonnie". It still kicks today.

He was actually known as the 247th Beatle.

Here's a clip of him in 2011 doing the same song, including "go go" dancers that would have fit right in on Shindig (albeit not in country western clothes). Not bad for a dude who was about 70 then.
