Leake gets the A squad going up against the Brewers. Chapman has the B squad with him as he faces San Francisco.

Billy Hamilton back in the lineup playing CF - meaning, of course, that he leads off. We must be homing in on Opening Day. Both squads have CF leading off, SS hitting second and C batting eighth.
Stop the presses! Votto and Bruce are hitting back-to-back.
Bryan Price said that the Chapman-Leake decision will come down any day. This is probably the last head-to-head we will see between these two pitchers.

Some odds and ends:
Slidin' Billy triples and scores on a ground out. Frisco announcers amazed by his spreed. Ludwick still struggling.
Cozart walks and Votto with a soft liner. Runners on the corners. I think Votto makes the club. Bruce with a double off the glove of the second baseman. Cozart scores.
Giant announcer comparing Chapman to Vida Blue. Chapman walks the first batter and the second batter. Chapman hitting 93-94. 9 straight out of the zone by Aroldis. Liner off the bat of the Panda. Bases juiced. Nobody out. Chapman hits 96. Wild pitch (slider in the dirt_ that goes off the arm of Olivo and into the Reds' dugout to score a run. Pence Ks. Belt pops out. Easy grounder to short. It seemed as if Chapman was having trouble with his off-speed pitches.

Meanwhile, Leake gets a grounder to second. And then a grounder back to the mound that results in an error on Joey Votto (missed catch). Ground single to left off the bat of Rickie Weeks. Ramirez doubles in a run. Davis singles in a pair. Schafer triples in another run. Leake making this an easier decision so far today. A ground out makes it 5-1 as the Brewers send 8 to the plate in the first.

Second:

Reds doing nothing with Bumgarner in the top of the second. Hessman, Hannahan and Donald go quietly.

Izturis pops out. Hanigan doubles. Leake to the plate. He grounds out, moving Hanigan to third. Phipps walks. Phipps struck out on 3 pitches in the first and then walked on 4 pitches in the third. Cozart doubles in a run. Gameday simply skipped Joey Votto. LOL. Okay it seems as if Votto singled in a pair. 2 for 2. Now hitting .391. He is simply The Man. Bruce doubles. Second and third. Frazier grounds out. 5-4 after an inning and a half. Interesting that there were two two-out doubles and the runner on first did not score on either.

Crawford leads off the second with a ground single to right off of Chapman. 5-4-3 off the bat of Quiroz. Called strike 3.

Olivo walks. Chapman bunts right back to the pitcher. Olivo out at second. Not a horrible bunt by Chapman per SF announcers. Hamilton forces Chapman on a bouncer to third. Panda fields and fires for the third out. Burriss must have some speed as well.

Leake strikes out the pitcher. Aoki grounds out. Segura singles on a line drive to left. Segura caught stealing.

Chapman walks Torres for the second straight time. Chapman has been thrown four different pitches.

And that is it for me. Work is calling pretty soon.

Chapman: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 2 K

One thing not seen in this line score is Chapman's ability to manage the running game. Though I'm not looking up his numbers right now, he did pick off Torres in the 3rd today. He'll pick off his fair share throughout the season as a starter.

Mesoraco continued his hot hitting today with a double vs the Giants, and is now hitting .500 this spring.

Yorman Rodriguez is 1-for-1. Reds lead the Giants 5-2 in the 8th inning.

Manny Parra pitched a scoreless 7th, giving up one hit while striking out two batters.

Votto and Hanigan homered today. Bruce 2 doubles. Votto and Bruce 5 hits, 3 XBH. Lefties should never hit back-to-back. That much is pretty obvious.
Leake's final line: 3.1 IP 10 H 7 R 5 ER 0 BB 1 K
LeCure two scoreless frames.
