Game 1 of 162. The most beautiful day of the season.

Choo 8
Phillips 4
Votto 3
Ludwick 7
Bruce 9
Frazier 5
Cozart 6
Hanigan 2
Cueto 1

Hamilton 9
Trumbo 7
Kendrick 4
Callaspo 5
Ianetta 2
Weaver 1

I think there is a very good chance that this will be the most stable lineup the Reds have had in a very long time... at least against starting RHP but maybe against LHP too since it is LRLRLR the first six batters.

I like Cozart in the #7 slot.. He's got some pop.. Hopefully he can drive in Frasier and Bruce over the course of the year.

Hannigan has really thrived in the #8 slot, and is valuable there.

You can't help but get excited about that lineup. 1-8 all have 15-20+ HR potential and Choo and his career .381 OBP will be awesome hitting in front of Votto after what we've gone through the last few years.

I can see why he'd have that reaction.
Josh was the feel good story of the year.. then as soon as he was traded, many (not all) fans suddenly decided he was a ticking timebomb that was going to relapse, have a serious injury, etc, etc.
In other words, plenty of fans turned on him when he was traded for a handful of magic beans (Volquez).

In all honesty Josh has had some injuries since leaving Cincinnati, which was one of the fears the club had. I don't know that he's been "injury-prone".

But I do imagine that some of those same fans who wish he was still here would think he was a lazy bum for getting hurt too.

Still, at the time of the trade, not many tears were shed for his departure.
He put together a few MVP-calibar seasons, now the fans wish he had stayed?
I can just see why he's so cold to the Cincy fans. The Cincy press wasn't exactly friendly to him after he was traded as well.

Honestly, those relapses he had were pretty minor compared to what some other players have done.. He got drunk and maybe/probably had an affair? I don't excuse that behavior, but plenty of other players do it without getting it plastered all over the internet.

His addiction to energy drinks (or whatever he was taking) was bad too, because it got so bad that he couldn't play a few games, but it's not as if it was that big of an impact.

Whipping Boy? Early favorites are, in order: Leake, Ludwick, Parra, Bailey, Mesoraco, Broxton and Cozart.
Dark horse candidates: BP, Frazier, Choo, Arroyo & Bruce

Candidates that would REALLY have to stink it up to become a whipping boy on Redszone: Latos, Cueto, Hoover, Marshall, Chapman, and Hanigan

Player who will NOT be the whipping boy no matter what happens: Votto

Whipping Man? Baker... no matter what the results are.

Good at bat for Brandon to get Choo over to third.

Not really that fond of Phillips hitting second generally.

Phillips and Ludwick will have to do reasonably well against righties to make this offense work. I think they can.
