What?!? Three lefties in a row?!?! Say it isn't so!

And 4 of the first 5! That leaves us susceptible to a loogy in the late innings!!

Between them, Strasburg and Cueto had an ERA of about 3 last year.

So, over 6 innings, you'd expect about a 2-2 game.

The Reds #5 starter Leake would give up about 3 runs in those 6 innings, so over a small sample size of 1 game, it's not really a huge difference.

In reality, that's the difference between an ace and a #5.

It's not a sensitivity issue; my feelings aren't hurt. It's the overreactions from people spitting out absolutes about how Cueto is lost because he gave up 3 runs in the second inning to a good offense. It's just silly stuff.

Go Reds!

It's all good and you didn't hijack anything. I over-reacted a bit but it was building up from yesterday....we had a very active debate about Mike Leake and it never became ugly....no personal insults were issued and the critiques of Leake were, for the most part, well-founded. But several people labeled the gamethread as "unbearable." It's my opinion that we're here to talk baseball; specifically, the Reds and these are grown men - professionals - and justified criticisms are okay. And most of the people who sit on a high horse and tear down those who criticize certain players or question their value will eventually do the same thing.

I'm struggling to see all of the intriguing strategy involved in the bottom of the third inning. Basically, the Reds did nothing strategically in anticipation of Cueto batting and the Nats just simply walked Hanigan to get to Cueto. The only exciting thing about that was the bobble on Cueto's weak grounder which I'm pretty confident in saying, wasn't what Dusty was playing for strategy-wise.

Enjoyable series, two good teams, however it comes out.

But I'm a little distressed that both Leake and Cueto allowed big homers to the eighth place hitting catcher.

Yesterday, as Dusty himself said, the pitcher was on deck with two outs and nobody warming up.

Today, it looked like a pitch that got too much of the plate.

As much as I hate giving up walks, I think these pitchers need to be a little less aggressive in coming over the plate to these eighth place hitters.

Kelch now says that the opposition eighth hitters have hit the Reds well througout the short season so far. Shouldn't happen this much.

What would you have done differently? Don't mean this in a debate way just honestly curious what you would have done.

Nothing. But that's the point. The bottom of the third is supposed to be the reason that the NL style is cherished and the AL style gets criticized.

Bullpen situation for this game is interesting. Reds used most of the guys yesterday. Parra is available. Presumably JJ is not.

Would he use Marshall in this close game if he's not 100 percent? I guess we could see Parra as a LOOGY if Marshall isn't ready.

Sometimes Dusty pushes his starter an extra inning in this situation. Some time it works, sometimes not.

Should be interesting to see what he does. I'm sure we'll all agree with Dusty's decisions.
