Is HC on the bench because of a missed signal yesterday? I know Dusty seems to forgive his players for such blunders easily, but he looked mighty ticked in the dugout to me. Perhaps it is more likely the pitching match up, just a little interesting.

Two days in a row, in a big series, Matheny chooses to play descalso at 2nd and not Carpenter. In doing so, he has put the cardinals in a hole to start both games. He has made quite a few puzzling decisions this year both pre-game and in-game.

But you're not taking into account how well he may be hiding the ball, the hitter's approach, wanting to see a pitch or two. Most pitchers...heck, ALL pitchers want to get a first pitch strike, but you also don't want your hitters swinging at the first pitch everytime. Even if it ends up being the only strike you see in the ab.

You are giving him way too much credit, he's not doing anything different than everyone else goes out there and does we just kept helping him out by putting ourselves in terrible hitters counts and then fishing.

When we worked the count that inning and got back to 3-2 counts it limited his options and we picked up a couple of hits on the two predictable FBs. When Bruce got up he took and missed then went back fishing to strike out, keep him in the zone and swing at them he's very hittable.

Robinson has looked really nice at the plate so far. Pretty disciplined.

Yeah, he controls the zone fairly well. The last three years in the minors, 141 walks and 257 strikeouts. Good ratio. It is that whole getting the ball to the grass part that has plagued him.

Any insight as to whether or not his hit tool is mouldable? That is to say with some grooming do you think it's likely he could hit for a decent average?
