Winds will be gusting heavily down at the yard tonight, and it will be interesting to see how much it impacts the pitchers and if any outfielders have issues. Storms are moving into the area late tonight, but they should be able to get the game in without any problems.

I think the prevailing view has always been that if Mes could start hitting like we all felt Mes could hit, he'd start playing more.

I think he has earned more starts.

The storms are supposed to be late but looking at the radar it looks like they may hit a little earlier than predicted

You could see it in his short stint last year, but guys just don't pick up his fastball very well. I don't think he'll be able to throw it 90% of the time like he has in the minors but it's definitely going to be a weapon for him.

I root for the Blue Jackets to do well (even though I'm not a hockey fan) but I don't like that the Reds' game is on the overflow channel (no HD) and not the other way around. I guess living in Columbus instead of Cincinnati this is what I should expect. I just consider the NHL to basically be a minor league. Haha. I'm actually an Avs fan, but living in Columbus I root for the Jackets as well. And I wouldn't consider the NHL a minor league, although that's you opinion. I consider the NBA a minor league, but that's just my opinion. If it was the Cavs, I'd be complaining right there with you!

But either way, the season is over in 2 weeks, so I don't mind NHL/NBA taking precedence in April

It's because of their pre-game stuff most likely. Easier for FS Ohio to just put each game on separate channels. I agree with you though -- there has to be a better way to do it than this garbage. I've been SO spoiled with sports on HD TV.

Me either. He only throws 91-93 mph on his fastball. And very rarely throws another pitch. And when he does, it doesn't go for a strike.

It will be hard to know if he has success because the hitters have never seen him. Or because he hides the ball so well.

Another K, but his stuff looks more like a good lefty reliever than a starter up to this point. I don't if it's just today, but going forward he's going to need to control something besides his fastball. Especially after teams get a good look at him.

I can see why you would consider the NHL to be a minor league, having rooted for Columbus.

What kills me is that the Reds hitters love fastballs. I'm really surprised someone hasn't gotten a hold of one by now. Seems like Bruce was close.

You can sit on that fastball all you want, but if he's painting the corners with it like he was earlier in the game, you're not going to touch it. David Price, throws mainly fastballs, nearly unhittable. Fernandez throws straight gas, and if his location is on, you're not going to hit it.
