-nice to see paul getting a start. heisey to date has not seized his opportunity.

-i get the feeling that hannahan will start once a week or so.

There is no break but he has no feeling in the tip of his finger today which makes fielding hard so he will probably be out at least a few games.

I like Paul as a bench bat/back up outfielder, but I think we may be setting ourselves up for disappointment if people think he should be the starter over Heisey. Paul getting overexposed will probably not be a good thing.

Biggest improvement I've seen from Homer is that when things go wrong, things don't snowball. Biggest sign of his maturity improving.

He looked bad there. 3 pitch k. It's like his eyes got huge on that first pitch and swung for the fences....he was toast after that. He clearly changed his approach in THAT ab. Flying open too. Haven't seen that in a while.

Another anecdotal observation... Pitchers struggle in half innings after they are on base. I wonder if some TLR type has ever proposed walking the pitcher and having the pitcher try to pitch a lot of foul balls just to gas the opposing pitcher.

It's not that IMO. They don't work together often enough so Mes doesn't know what Homer's wanting. You get a feel for what a pitcher wants to throw in certain situations and you get a feel for how a certain pitch is working for that pitcher that day.

The initial pitch is called from the dugout I believe. But if it's shaken off, that's where the familiarity comes into play.

He's getting people with the curve and splitter with an occasional high fastball. Hopefully, Mez can use the Hanigan injury and the addition of one of the best catching coaches around (Corky) to his advantage. He needs to really build some rapport with the pitchers and build their confidence in him. :thumbup:

Not sure if its been mentioned here, but the Marlins pitcher has better splits vs LH than RH in his career.
Maybe Dusty didn't pick the best day to load up the lineup with LH hitters.

I do think what's been learned in this series is that this isn't some AAA caliber team the Reds are playing. This is a pitching staff with a lot of talent.

I've always liked Logan more than most here. He doesn't have the best stuff but he throws strikes. Nothing drives me nuts like walks. Which is why Arredondo drove me crazy (Edinson too).

I just wanted to stop in and say that Choo is an absolute machine and is exactly what we've been missing in this lineup. I always knew he was good, but I guess only seeing him 6 games a year I didn't realize just how good he is.

I sorta doubt they will, but I at least hope The Reds are trying to extend him. They've shocked us with extensions before, hopefully they'll keep that trend up.
