I argued otherwise in the past, but I'm beginning to think Baker had zero say in Mesoraco's inclusion on the roster. For whatever reason, he refuses to give him regular playing time.

Mes has started 11 out of the 17 games since Hanigan was hurt. That's 65%. That's about what most starting catchers start in MLB.

I think the "whatever reason" may be reflected by Mes' slugging percentage.

Of course, I don't know why Miller is on the roster, so either way I'm stumped.

Reds going with a lot of lefty hitters against the righty tonight, hope it works out, Paul, Hannahan, Votto, Choo, Bruce. Fine with me.

Compared to Miller or Hanigan? Mes' BB% and K% are fine and his LD% has improved since last year. I would say Mesoraco has been BABIP unlucky. His first few games he scorched a lot of balls directly at defenders. Those fall for hits and his rate stats look a whole lot better with such a small sample size.

If you're talking about a 40 game split, I could buy that. But since it's only been 17 games since Hanny has gone down, I can't see why Mes couldn't have started at least 14 of those.

It is maddening! And it's because of his head scratching line-ups that I will not lose sleep the day there's another skipper at the helm.

I don't care if they win a WS this year because I'm of the thought that if they do, it will be in spite of him.

I'm not saying I agree with him being played so much, but the reason Dusty will give is "there's a day game tomorrow" so he can't use Mes for both.

I don't mean to put down all Sun Deck transplants, I've found myself enjoying contributions from many new faces. But I really do think Redszone is about as good as it gets for baseball discussion and it bums me out when Yahoo/Reds.com level comments constantly pop up in the ORG or Game Threads.

i suspect that you and I will disagree about what constitutes a "Yahoo/Reds.com level comment". Personally if I never hear another complaint about Cozart batting second or Baker giving the bunt sign it will be too soon.

Sun Deck was a fun, self moderating thread last year and we were able to winnow out most of the foolishness. I enjoyed it immensly and was not particularly keen on the merger myself. (I bet Texas Dave feels the same way).

Bottom line: when the boys are playing bad, we all get a bit grouchy.

Eventually you'll learn that frustration and questioning the manager and team makes you a bad poster.

Saying the same thing over and over make a bad poster, regardless of the message. Noise does not improve the board.

After every minor down turn in a game, "The sky is falling!"
After every loss, "The sky is falling!"
While a player is in a slump mid season. "I would offer the Marlins X,Y, and Z for Stanton. Look at this line-up." next day: "I would offer the Marlins Y,Z, and A for Stanton. Look at this line-up"
After any bad play by a whipping boy, "We have been saying it all season..."
After same whipping boy goes on a streak, "I've been saying he is going to turn it around"
After a player we traded gets off to a hot start, "I would have given our 4th OF, #5 SP, and utility infielder up before I would have traded him!"
And the mother of all, " Jay Bruce might be on steroids."

I've probably missed a few, but everyone probably gets the idea.

The most boring party I ever attended was full of people with the same personalities.

It takes all kinds. And there are all kinds of personalities on this board. Some reserved. Some excitable. Some quick to react. Some still reserved. Some funny. Some not so funny.

The people that complain the most are the least tolerable, and generally want everyone to be like them.

there is something to say about catching a team hot or cold. I hate playing a team that has lost a couple of series in a row or has just been swept. They are DUE.

I still say the cream rises to the top over 162 games. The Cards will cool along with the Braves and the Reds and Nats will win their divisions. The Braves will win the wild card.

My only concern is the Reds offense...we can't blame it on the lead off hitter...

Considering the poor first inning Homer had, he buckled down and had a solid game. The Reds are only 2 runs down in the 6th. The guys who people were complaining about are the guys getting hits. The sad thing is that there's more complaining about post quality instead of the actual game. 5-10 years ago, we fans would've KILLED to have a team as complete and competitive as this one....slumping or not. Half of the fan-bases in the country would KILL to switch lineups with us. The "woe is me" and the sky is falling mentality going on around here the past few weeks isn't irritating to me....it's mind boggling. Because I too vividly remember this franchise before Dusty. Not every break will turn our way, just like every missed call won't go against us either. Marathon...not a sprint.

And regarding the whole ORG vs Sundeck thing...IIRC we're all Reds fans first and foremost...I vote we agree on that part and focus on the team.
