Per Fay:

Reds lineup
Choo,
Cozart,
Votto,
Phillips,
Bruce,
Frazier,
Paul,
Hanigan,
Bailey.

Also per Fay: after yesterday's win, Reds clinch a season series win against the Phils for the first time since 2003

Phillies had great run, but their core seemed to have gotten old/injured in a hurry.

I hope the REDs avoid the same fate when Phillips/Votto/Bruce get older.

I think the Reds wanted Revere. IIRC, he's got one year left on his contract. Reds projected Hamilton for 2014.

I don't think the Reds wanted Span, on a long term deal.

Not sure Fowler was available except for a big return.

Homer getting hit fairly hard in this game so far. Pitcher now up with two on.

Just an educated guess. The Choo signing tells me the Reds wanted a short contract. Revere was the CFer available with a short contract.

I seem to recall that the Phils signed Revere before the Reds made the Choo deal. Just figures to me that Reds were in the Revere hunt.

Obviously, I'm glad they got Choo. Who's up with a full count. Strike three called, very questionable call, seemed high, Choo not happy.

Choo should just tell the ump. Don't you know I have walked the 2nd most times this year? OBP #1 or 2 for the whole year?

You know, the more and more I see Homer with Bryan Price in the dugout (and with Bronson/Latos) the more I'm thinking he may go for that extension. A year or 2 ago, I highly doubted that. It was clear that Homer disliked GABP and he simply wasn't having the success he expected from himself. But something has clicked with Bailey these past 2 years and I put a HUGE portion of that on Price and his fellow pitchers. I'm really liking the odds now...Homer & Latos extensions before next season...it WILL happen. :D

This inning is a perfect example of how the save rule has ruined managing.

Clearly, the right move there was to bring in Chapman to face Utley. 10-15 years ago, that's what nearly every manager would do. Now, nearly every manager saves Chapman for the 9th.

Unfortunately I think you are correct. If Chapman is able to throw his slider for strikes then he is nearly unhittable but if he has is the fastball, even if it hits triple digits eventually MLB hitters catch up to hit. Terrible outing.
