Phillips 4,
Bruce 9,
Frazier 5,
Lutz 7,
Mesoraco 2,
Leake RHP

V. Niese LHP
3-4, 5.40 ERA

Niese rebounded from the worst two-start stretch of his career to give the Mets 7 1/3 innings of two-run ball Thursday, relying on mechanical lessons reinforced by practicing in front of a mirror. He is 1-2 at Citi Field.

Shortstop Zack Cozart started to feel sick on the team bus on Saturday night, and he missed his second straight game on Monday while battling a mysterious stomach bug.

"The doc couldn't say if it was food poisoning or just a little bug. It was awful," Cozart said. "On Saturday night it was bad. I'm off today to get fluids in me as much as possible. I'm sure I'm still dehydrated, even after I drank a lot of water yesterday."

Cozart was quarantined in the trainer's room during Sunday's game but was back with his teammates on Monday. Neither he nor manager Dusty Baker said whether he'll be back in the lineup on Tuesday.

• Reds center fielder Shin-Soo Choo will have the day off on Tuesday with the lefty Niese on the mound.

I saw Baker pull Robinson aside on the way back to the dugout after last night's win. I figured he was telling him he was starting today. Leading off in place of Choo though? Didn't think that, it's pretty cool. That is one of the many things Dusty does well.

Yeah, this should be interesting. I've really liked what I've seen of Robinson (small sample size noted). And it's always good to give the main guys a rest every now and then, and I think tonight's a good time to give Choo a night off.

Always very interesting to see Lutz....and he actually might be a better bet against the lefty than Paul.

Robinson was in the lineup last night because Niese was the starter (or that's what the Reds had heard) once they learned he wasn't starting until tonight they pulled him and slotted Choo in there. Dusty wanted to give Choo a night off against a LH

Just nuts that Reds don't have a righty outfielder for the Lutz spot. Oh, well, he beats out the single.

You'll notice that Frazier hit a rocket shot -- on the ground.

If that ball is hit in the air it's a double, maybe a homer. He smoked it.

Todd's ground ball rate is high this year. I wonder why. Is it how they pitch him? A mechanical flaw? By design? Todd needs more line drives.

That's just on a force play which it would have been if the catcher had thrown to 1st. Even if Frazier managed to beat the tag, Buck would have still had to force Leake at 1st for the run to not count.

Mike Leake looks fantastic tonight, and has been very good for the majority of the year. If you ask me, he may be the most underrated pitcher on our staff. On some of those early 2000 teams he would have EASILY been our best pitcher. Now he's a back of the rotation starter for us. Not bad, huh?

Walk to Baxter, not a good idea. Wright up.

Get Marshall up, two lefties to follow.

Mr. LeCure is flat dealing. Shame on me for doubting our best relief pitcher.

(Yeah, I said it. OK, alright, second best. But LeCure has been our best this year so far.)

Headed to the ninth, ladies and gents, 3-0 Good Guys.

It would be Phillips second, Wright cleanup.

Imagine - Choo, Phillips, Votto, Wright, Bruce, Ludwick, Cozart, catcher.

Btw Raisor, I'm seeing different answers regarding my question about a bounced ball going through the strike zone without a swing. Most places I'm seeing are saying it's a ball.

I had a 50/50 shot

I'd bat Wright second. Higher OBP. Plus, he has 10 steals with only one caught this season.

BP is doing fine at cleanup. And he hits into too many double plays when he bats second for some reason.

That's what I'm seeing everywhere just about. I was under the impression that once it hit the ground it was dead. I didn't think you could hit a bounced ball. But apparently you can. (that's what started me questioning a non swing).

Dusty would hit Phillips second. He did so when Ludwick was playing. He'd do so with Wright.

So when the Reds get David Wright, you and Dusty will have to argue it out.

I almost commented on your mentioning that last night. Well done. Funny thing, when I heard the other day that Frazier had a slow roller infield hit, I said to my wife, that'll end his slump. And that was before I knew he'd had another hit in that game after that. Keep up the good work.
