Does anyone know the Red's record on Espn Sunday night baseball? Seems to me over the years that the Reds have a losing record. Should be a good game tonight. Hopefully Arroyo has his plus stuff and Lynn crumbles pitching in GABP.

we seem to lose on nationally televised games, and lately, lose on Sunday, so I can't imagine we do all that well on the sunday night game. Hoping tonight breaks the Sunday funk.

In his career, Bronson is 8-15 with an ERA of 4.54 against St. Louis in his career. This season, Arroyo is 6-5 with a 3.38 ERA Current Cardinals have done this against him:

Last Five Years against STL
STL Hitters AVG AB HR RBI
Carlos Beltran .500 12 0 2
Matt Carpenter .000 3 0 0
Allen Craig .200 5 0 1
Tony Cruz .200 5 0 0
Daniel Descalso .412 17 0 4
David Freese .083 12 0 0
Matt Holliday .343 35 3 8
Jon Jay .400 25 1 3
Pete Kozma .000 2 0 0
Yadier Molina .111 27 0 2
Shane Robinson .000 1 0 0

The Reds haven't seen Lynn enough for any of their stats to really hold water. Overall, Lynn is 8-1 with a 2.76 ERA this season.

Here are the starting pitchers by the numbers to this point in 2013:

Lance Lynn

Isn't Lynn a right hander? Is Robinson getting a chance to be the everyday LFer?

Isn't Lynn a right hander? Is Robinson getting a chance to be the everyday LFer?

Dusty likes X Paul against hard throwing fastball pitchers. He previously used Lutz sometimes against RHP specializing in breaking or off speed stuff.

Maybe Dusty feels Lynn is the wrong kind of pitcher for Paul, but he can't use the AA guy against the Cards in a big game. Ergo, Robinson, the switch hitter.

Glad to see Cozsrt at seven and Hanigan eight. Have to be patient hitting eighth, which Ryan is and Zack isn't. Seventh is more of a swing away spot, which suits Cozart.

That would describe Lynn.

Wouldn't mind seeing a rain delay after 2-3 innings to get Lynn out of there. It sure would have been nice to have great weather for this nationally televised game, the stadium will probably be half empty. Everyone will be watching the NBA game anyways I guess.

That would describe Lynn.

Lynn is a strange cat. He reminds me of Harang. Neither have a plus fastball, but both throw it twice as often as all their other pitches combined, and both have (well, with Harang, had) success with that.

Kiko
06-09-2013, 07:48 PM
Robinson is the better defender and with Arroyo being a fly ball pitcher maybe that is why Dusty is going with Robinson. Also, Robinson is hitting well and maybe Dusty wants to ride the hot hand (ok it's only one game). Anyway, I like tonight's lineup.

Speier had his hands up over his head so Votto assumed that he could go in standing up. That's on Speier.

I think the Reds, Choo, and Phillips understand he has limits out in CF. Not the speed merchant and may not get the great jump. It's not his position. So we get basket catches by Phillips.

Thankfully we have a second baseman who can make that play or they would likely be base hits.
