Louisville has been building a true all-sports presence on campus and this year it is finally showing through on a national stage. They have done it in each season, and they have done it well. First the BCS bowl victory over Florida, then the men's basketball National Championship and women's basketball Final Four appearance, now the baseball team is headed to Omaha for the College World Series. It is a great time to be a Cards fan (not St. Louis). :beerme:

It is something they should be proud of no doubt.

It's been fun watching the baseball team play this year and cool to see them headed to Omaha. They are fundamentally sound and come up big hits in big situations. I love this time of year. NCAA baseball is so pure.

Been a great run. Don't forget the ACC invite. Been an expensive travel year as well. Not the least bit upset about that though!

It's been a great year no doubt about it. Has there ever been a school that has been to a BCS game,Final Four and CWS in the same year? Not to mention the womens Final Four. I'm a UK fan but I will give them all the credit in the world for having a sensational collegiate sports year.

Leave out the Women's Final Four and Florida has done it once.

Not to belittle their accomplishment but are they counting BCS bowls that were there before the BCS? What I mean is did someone like Texas, for example, do this in, say, 1995 before there was a BCS?

I thought Texas had probably done it if you go back far enough. I forgot about Florida. That wasn't long ago at all. Texas and UCLA were the two that came to my mind first that may have done this.

I looked up Florida they didn't quite make it. Made the BCS championship game for the 2006 season and was in the Final Four for the same season but didn't make the CSW for that season. They were in the CWS the season before that. So they were pretty close.

Texas has only been to three Final Fours, two in the 1940s and one in 2003. In 2003 the football team played in the Cotton Bowl. I didn't look up the two trips in the 40s.
