I hope Mez gets Cingrani. Always been a fan of Hanigan but he's clearly lost his stroke this season and I don't want to see him out there 4 or 5 games a week.

Anybody got up the courage to ask Dusty why Robinson can hit second but not Paul? I'm guessing it's as simple as one as a switch hitter and the other is not. Reds really need to win five games this week. 4-3 is a must, but 5-2 is the ultimate goal here.

Hanigan has been a huge disappointment at the plate.

He takes good pitches to hit and quickly gets down in the count, and isn't going to the opposite field like he used to. With him, Cozart, and the pitcher, that's three pretty automatic outs in the lineup. Not to mention Frazier's plummet to earth.

Mesoraco, though disappointing, at least has some power. But I can't wait till the Reds get a new SS. Cozart seems to be possessed by the Ghost of Drew Stubbs.

I dunno. Their rotation is pretty good.

The Reds are gonna have to get their heads into the game to do anything better than split, IMO. Not that a split is a given.

No more coasting into 3B on a single to Beltran, for example.

It's natural to discuss your rivals and teams you're battling the division for, and in our case that's the Cardinals and no one else. I don't get why a few RZ posters whine about it so much. UK and UofL fans constantly discuss each other's teams and trash talk each other on their message boards, and it's the same way on every sports message board I've ever been on. Go to bengals.com and you'll see the Steelers talk is year-round. It seems that only on RZ is this kind of thing an issue.

I've commented that Hanigan's offensive numbers have declined the last couple of years.

But this year he looks like he can't hit any more.

Oddly, he still looks fine on defense. But hitting, no.

Bottom of Reds order tonight is very weak and with Cozart too, this isn't much of a lineup.

With Frazier and Mesoraco they are a little better.

Last few years he has primarily hit well against lefties. Not much against righties. And Ryan always has had good discipline, he walks. This year, nothing much at all, as you say.

By the way, sorry you had to sit through that game last night. At least I could shut it off.

Funny how the TV camera reflects things. Sometimes the fog looks not bad, sometimes terrible.

He doesn't get pitched to (notice the IsoD with "Men On" and "RISP"); opposing pitchers found a way to mitigate the damage. Even so, he's hitting well in those situations.

You have to admit that's a surprisingly low number, given how good the rest of his stats are. Only on RZ is it taboo to mention it.

It's flat awful for Votto. And you are right it's Taboo on RZ.

That's not what was said. What was said is that RBI is something that's not really in a batter's control.
Which is just as silly as saying RBI aren't important. A batter can't control if there's anyone on base in front of him or not, but he's 100% in control of what happens next. And no, I'm not interested in revisiting this debate any further.

Still three innings to go for him, needs to keep the pitch count low. Bullpen is all beat up.

Hannahan grounds to the GG winner Darwin Barney who makes a fantastically routine play, one out.

Now it's Hanigan who, the Reds say, is beat up with bumps and bruises. Give him more rest, I say, let Mes have some games.

Bottom seven. Cubs up down four runs. Bottom of the Cubs order coming up.

Castro leads it off. 1-2 count. 92 pitches for Homer. Castro fouling them off. Castro running up the pitch count with fouls. Thom overstating Castro's slump this year. Another foul. He's had a bad year, but not that bad. 4-3, one out, easy bounder to BP.

So now we get Darwin Gold Glove Barney who grounds out to Votto, nice play, 100 pitches for Homer. Two outs.

Lefty hitter up now, presumably a PH. Julio Borbon. 1-1 count. Blake Parker in the bullpen. Neither have I. 1-2 on Borbon. Wonder if Clay Carroll is the next hitter. Or Eastwick.
