The crazy thing is that Cozart is outperforming Castro in almost every statistical category.

Let's not forget Cozart has a .654 OPS / 73 OPS+ in the 2 hole with arguably the best protection in the national league batting directly behind him.

Wind blowing straight in today. Going to take a cannon to get one out in that gale. I wouldn't mind seeing a game with the wind blowing out like that. Those are kinda fun to watch.

Man, I know intellectually that it doesn't matter all that much in any given game, but in my gut it absolutely kills me to see our worst hitter batting 2nd.

Why not stack lefties? Are we really letting James Russel dictate our lineup? This is a tough pitcher and I hate the idea that we're taking so little advantage of our best hitter's opportunities.

With Samardjia on the mound today throwing heat, it woulda been a good day to bat Paul second. He loves the heat. Plus he's lefty vs. righty pitcher.

ProfessorTofty
06-13-2013, 03:13 PM
Would have been a double play, but instead the runner that would have been out at first went to second. Looked pretty bad, but a popup just now ended the inning, so no damage done in terms of runs.

unwise how? You still need someone to bat ninth, we'd waste two hitters if hannahan comes out now.

Close game no reason to lose Frazier's bat.

Now it is Hannahan and Choo likely to face a southpaw.

Is Hannahan so good a hitter you can't waste him?

I would have burned Jack and used Derrick R to lead off next inning.

I counter with close game is no reason to burn a bat in what could go extras. Get a defensive replacement in (not that it's completely needed), and let the pitcher be the 8th due up instead of first due up.

Now if Hanahan had actually got an at bat in, I'm all for Frazier staying in and Hanahan taking a shower.

Even more ideally, cozart was in the 8 hole, and hanahan replaced him...
