I like taht Baker is trying Robinson in the #2 spot.

now at a robust.163 BA, would Hanigan still have his #1 catcher job if he was batting .100?

In 2012, Votto's 1st off-day was 5/30. Slash line of .325/.463/.598/1.060. After the next 25 games, it was .354/.476/.639/.1.114.

Within those 25 games, he reached base in 23 of them. Also within those 25 games, hitting streaks of 8 games and 9 games. I stopped at 25 games, because the 26th game is the one we'd all like to forget about in San Francisco.

I didn't go back and look at previous years, but I bet you find something similar. The guy is incredible after his batteries have been recharged. He's a machine.

Not sure tonight's start is a fair test of that, given that Mesoraco caught 14 innings yesterday.

And still Hanigan's OBP is higher than Cozart's...

I am not saying it is a bad lineup at all. But without Votto and the other switches it looks like someone drew names out of a hat.

I am not saying it is a bad lineup at all.
I am. That 6 thru 9 is pretty brutal, and Robinson doesn't help either. :help:

Watch them put up 12 runs. :beerme:

I would have given him yesterday off since it was a road game, and the series was already won.....but that's just me (since it went 14 though, there's a chance he would done more than just pinch hit).

He needs it though. Hopefully it kicks him back into gear.

Isn't Lohse pitching? Did they substitute a lefty?

Not sure I understand sitting Votto and XPaul against a tough righty. Votto does hit everyone but against RHP he's 200 points higher in OPS this year.

Just like Cozart sat against a lefty this week.

I do agree that both Joey and XPaul did not look their best yesterday. Maybe that's the reason.

And also, Hannahan doesn't hit lefties much. So if he's the backup, it may explain why Joey would sit and Jack would play v. a righty.

And Dusty doesn't like Paul against crafty types, he likes him against fastball pitchers.

Whatever, I'm sure there's a reason for it.

That's it. Lohse throws that change-up quite a bit.

And Votto did look gassed yesterday.

The Brewers have a cat named Scooter Genney in the lineup.

If there has been a better baseball name, I haven't heard it. Can't wait until he hits against Homer.

I've been saying Votto has needed a day off for a while and I'm glad he's getting it. However, it really ticks me off that Votto is outta the lineup on a Friday night in CINCINNATI!!!! Fans pay to see Votto! He should of had the off day yesterday on the road. If I was at the game I'd be a little angry at that decision. Poor decision.

Does it matter? It's an error if the ball goes under your glove -- Bill Buckner style -- and you don't touch it. So, it should definitely be an error in the Segura "Please don't hurt me, ball" play where he bailed out.

The "You have to touch the ball for it to be an error" is complete folklore. At least for official scorers who are worth their salt.

When a pitcher like Arroyo comes out eight times to pitch in a close game, it takes its toll. He's not a kid, he's always faded late in games.

Bring in a reliever that gives up a lead and it was the wrong reliever or we shoulda stuck with Bronson. Stick with Bronson and we shoulda brought in a reliever.

You're seriously using the "small sample" card after not wanting to use career numbers? Really?

Then let's just use his career numbers, which I already provided, if you are concerned with small samples.

You don't want to use career numbers because you cite age. Now you don't want to use his most recent performance, because you cite sample size.
