Choo 8
Cozart 6
Votto 3
Phillips 4
Bruce 9
Paul DH
Hannahan 5
Mesoraco 2
Robinson 7
(Leake RHP)

I generally have a winning record when it comes to starting game threads, though I've gone 0-2 in my last two started. Like the Reds, hoping to break that trend.

Nick Tepesch going for Texas, a righty who can handle righties (.198 batting average) but not lefties so much (.312 batting average). With 6 of the 9 Reds batting lefty tonight, hopefully they get the job done. :beerme:

You would think they can post a crooked number or two against Tepesch. 7-4 Reds.

Things are going to turn better for the Reds, worse for the Bucs. Not sure about the Cards.

I wonder if Dusty pondered letting Leake DH ?

Leake can't DH if he is pitching. He could hit for himself and the Reds could play without a DH, but Leake can't be both the P and DH in the same game.

Votto has made a number of errors and bad plays lately. He is in a fielding slump and it is disturbing because a first baseman obviously gets a lot of chances.

His UZR rating is negative, which is highly unusual for him.

Brantley said the Reds are playing tight and it does seem that way. Not hitting with men in scoring position, now fielding lapses.

My guess is is that the Reds will play better when they get home and in a more comfortable, familiar environment.

True. But the point is why the hell did Walt give a two-year, $4 million contract to someone who no one else in MLB would have given a multi-year deal? Just made no sense at the time and makes even less sense now.

I know, I know, $4 million is nothing in baseball. It was still a dumb move. That money could have been better spent elsewhere. Hannahan is below replacement level.

I think it was just a mistake. Anyone that reaches on an error automatically would be an unearned run if they eventually score. I assume that the scorer just accidently ruled it an earned run at first and realized his mistake later.
