As do I. And I just like having DRob in the lineup....biased....he's a local Gainesville guy. I do think he will ultimately end up being a very useful ML player.

If there is such a thing as a good fifth outfielder, DRob is it. Just lacks the power to be a primary guy.

I just love RedsZone.

Phillips swung at the first 8 pitches thrown to him.

If he flies out 400 feet on the first pitch, he's a bum, overanxious, impatient.

But since he didn't, it was a great at bat.

Which it was.

The 400 foot fly out means he swung at a pitch he should have.....the first pitch swing and miss or 2 hopper to SS is a pitch he shouldn't have. The 8 pitch at bat means he wants to just get on base and is battling.....like he did about a week ago against a tough reliever in the 9th.

Mat sometimes loses it later on, so it's good Darvish is throwing a lot of pitches too.

Does Cozart realize he hits grounders to third and pop ups to the right side virtually all the time?

Is this a BABIP problem? Bad luck? He hits these grounders very hard. But you would think an adjustment is in order.

One last thing on Cozart. He pops up a lot, but he has a 49% ground ball rate this season, up from 42% last year.

He hits the ball hard, if he could drive the ball into the air he would have much better numbers. Just get it off the ground.

I'm sure they know, whatever.

The argument against Stubbs was never about diving. That is another myth perpetuated by people who can't read. Stubbs merely needed to take one more step on plenty of occassions to turn a single into an out.

Choo should have caught that ball, but I don't think he saw it. I agree that if he knew where it was, running hard for a couple of steps would have put him under that one. IMO, he slowed down because he didn't know where it was.

One significant thing they said is this will continue to be an issue the rest of the year. The only way for this to completely heal is to shut him down completely which they are trying not to do. So he probably won't fully heal until the offseason.

Ultimately if you don't score you don't win. Latos is very good but you can't expect perfection in a good opponent's home stadium.

Maybe the Reds will score some runs and come back.

Reds didn't score for 22 consecutive innings, now being shutout again, makes it tough on starting pitchers.

What does Drew's refusal to dive a handful of times throughout the season have to do with being able to read? I've have a point but am not sure of your's....so I'll wait as I typically agree very much with you.

The ongoing criticism of Stubbs defense by me and a few others was that he pulls up and plays it safe on balls that he can catch. Many, who can't seem to read, were up in arms because they misconstrued that to mean we wanted him to leave his feet and risk the ball rolling to the wall for extra bases and it was never the point. When the ball is still fifteen feet in the air, taking another step or two to make the catch wouldn't hurt. Drew pulled up and played those on the bounce quite a bit IMO.

Most over-rated defensive player I've ever seen. He was good covering gap to gap and that's flashy seeing him chewing up ground, but he gave it all back and then some on plays in front of him and to some extent balls over his head, though lots of guys have trouble with those. His trouble going back caused him to play way too deep, IMO, which magnified his issues on balls in front of him.

I associated your citing Redszone wanting Stubbs to dive with that whole scenario.

Actually, I'm sad that somehow I have a hankering to watch these ballgames.

I'm a Baker fan, but I really would like to see somebody new handle these guys. Some of these patterns are starting to drive me crazy. I knew (and posted) that Latos should be out. Latos fades deep in games. It's a simple fact.

But Dusty wants Latos to get the win, so he leaves him in on a hot day and now the game is even more likely out of reach.

As for the front office, it did a good job this off-season, but has been so passive since the injuries started that it's hard to believe.

Whatever, the rant is over, let's see if they can do something now although I doubt it.
