Hopefully the weather isn't the same as yesterday. Looks like some pop up thunderstorms in the area and potential for a rain delay. I will keep my fingers crossed that doesn't happen.

He should.

He and Arroyo were the only bright spots we had in the rotation for a while. Aaron was a stud for a while.

Yup, would love to see the Reds fans pay respects to a guy who was an unheralded ace in 2006 and 2007 and who pitched his heart out for Cincinnati for years...and then see the Reds chase him from the game early after he gives up a few trademark meatball HR's.

The Mariners lineup is interesting with Miller, Franklin, and Zunino in there. A real youth movement.

Radar looks rather quiet at the moment, just very light, very isolated showers. Hopefully we get this in, and with luck, without even any rain delays.

Well, the plus is Harang is on the mound for Seattle. He has a 6.75 ERA on the road and the opposing team's OPS is .944. Of course now that I have said that he will pitch out of his mind tonight.

Of course he can. But that's not even my point. He is not a 2.50 ERA pitcher. I expect him to end the year around 3.25-3.50 at the end of the year which is a fabulous improvement for him.

Lots of game left down by only 4.

Other scenarios that are way worse in the long run compared to possibly losing a game to harang include the following: season ending injuries to Votto, Bruce, Phillips, choo, bailey, Latos, chapman, etc.

I like the caps. They are very similar to the Stars & Stripes cap from a few years ago. (I think it was 2010. I bought one on clearance a year later.)

I think it looks good with the white uniform, though it looks better with the players who are showing their socks. I wouldn't mind seeing the Reds use a version of the cap (with a red C, of course) as the alternate home cap, with a gray version as the alternate road cap. Use the all-red cap as the primary cap for both home and away, and eliminate the red cap with the black bill.

I do and I just did. I'm not sure how you can deduce anything from that as the cutoff man never made a throw.

I deduce it from where the cutoff man was when he caught the ball and the fact that the runner had barely hit third, and the cutoff man was about 10 yards north of third.

If the cutoff man made a throw, we wouldn't be debating this. He didn't have to make a throw. It's all conjecture.

Watched it again... he did not catch it and he did in fact boot the cutoff throw as he booted it to the foul line. I would lay money he would have scored on that boot easily. If you have it on DVR check it out.

I'm definitely in favor of eliminating the black bill caps, and adding a white cap. I have this hat in my closet and would love to see the Reds bust it out.

Just keep in mind that it's very tough to win four in a row, even against weaker teams. Can't really anticipate that. This is now a six game homestand, five of six would be excellent.

By the way, I don't blame Speier for not sending Hannahan. From my view of it, Jack was pretty slow getting to third on the hit and would have been out by a mile.

As for Cozart, he's grounder to third, pop to the right side. Those are his two things.

Watched it again... he did not catch it and he did in fact boot the cutoff throw as he booted it to the foul line. I would lay money he would have scored on that bobble easily. If you have it on DVR check it out.

True. Ball was booted. But it all happened so quickly. Based on the information a 3rd base coach could properly process at the time the decision had to be made, he made the right call in my opinion. He can't assume the ball would be booted. And look at where the runner was when the ball was booted.

from a few minutes ago:

Sean Marshall still working in 'pen
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9:08 pm ET) Reds reliever Sean Marshall threw a 39-pitch bullpen session Friday, as he continues to recover from a sprained left shoulder. He will likely throw another Sunday as part of his workload leading to a rehab assignment.
"It went great," Marshall told MLB.com. "We'll see. We're just playing it day by day. I know they're planning a light toss tomorrow and a 'pen the next day. I will mix in some breaking balls and see how it goes."

Marshall threw mostly fastballs, and has only worked his curveball and slider in warm-ups, so that will likely be the next step. He still does not have a timetable for his return from the disabled list.

At least Dusty never batted Paul Janish in the two-hole. (Oh wait.)

What's hilarious is that Janish was not called up for performance...he was called up to to necessity and they were saying he has a great glove but just not ready at all to hit at the big league level.....and Dusty put him 2nd very very early in his career.

I don't disagree. But over the last month Cozart has actually had a HIGHER OPS than the other two main candidates to bat second -- Phillips and Paul.

I'm not disagreeing. I just think the ballclub has a number of guys who haven't hit consistently well this year. Add Frazier, Hanigan, Heisey.
