The Upton bros are out the rest of the weekend. Also, Hayward is expected to be out the weekend too. So, the Braves are missing their entire outfield plus Jordan Schafer. This is a good opportunity for the Reds to win a road series.

This is the type of lucky break some of us like to say the Cardinals always get. Time to take advantage.

This is some of the dumbest pitching you will ever see. 0-2 against the No. 8 hitter, no way he should get anything to hit. Homer gives him something to hit and he gets a double. 1-2 against the pitcher, he should get nothing to hit. Homer gives the pitcher something to hit and HE gets a double.

Amazing. Bury those pitches in the dirt and those are both strikeouts. Turrible.

This is a complete joke. The Braves' group of backups and AAA players are going to beat us. Wow.

I also love how Mike Minor was on the ropes after throwing 51 pitches after 2 innings. And our All-Star second baseman goes up there hacking at the first pitch in the top of the third. Just smart baseball all around! (Nope.)

By reading the reactions of people you would think we are the stinking Marlins.

We're all fans of a small-market team who may have sacrificed the future for the immediate present by signing our marquee players to big dollar deals and dealt off most of our minor league talent for peripheral pieces, ostensibly to build a team capable of winning the world series.

Despite the fact that this is far from a bad team, everyone can see that this bunch, as presently constructed, is not winning a world series and is no lock to even make the playoffs, considering we are running third in our own division at the ASB. And we don't know when or if Ludwick and Cueto are coming back, and we don't have a lot to offer other teams in deals to fix these problems.

It's not been often since 1990 that Reds fans have had reasonable cause for high expectations. And let's face it - our window of opportunity may be small. I don't blame anyone for being a bit upset about the present state of the union, so to say.

The Reds can only control their games. Right now, they are on pace to win a whole bunch of games. People are distraught over it.

No people are not distraught because the Reds are on pace to win a "whole bunch of games."

They are unhappy because the Reds won 97 last year so the possibility of 90-91 seems like a step backward.

They are unhappy because they thought the Reds were better than the Bucs and Cards, and they haven't been.

They are also unhappy with the performance of certain home grown players who they hoped would do well this year and haven't, at least offensively.

Lots and lots of complaining about a team that is 11 games over .500 before the All-Star break. On pace for 91 wins despite Ludwick having what, 2 at bats and Johnny Cueto a handful of innings on the season.

By reading the reactions of people you would think we are the stinking Marlins.

They were 11 games over back in May when we swept the Mets. Since then its been sort of dismal. Bottom line is some things about this team deserve praise and some things deserve criticism. They may be over .500 but that doesn't prevent criticism when its warranted.

Is it the Reds fault that winning 91 games would put them on pace for 3rd place? Would things be different if winning 91 games would put them on pace to win the division by 20 games? The Reds can only control their games. Right now, they are on pace to win a whole bunch of games. People are distraught over it.

Who are these people? Can you at least point to a specific person or post, instead of just these "complaining about general complaining" posts that serve no purpose at all?

It's as bad as the people who just make general comments about how "the game threads are unbearable."

Say something constructive, specific, or address a particular poster or comment, otherwise these general nagging and complaining about these mysterious others who are ruining your day get old (and it's not just you).

So there are some things people thought would be much better.

As I've said several times, other than Leake , is there anyone on this team performing better than expected? Plenty to complain about.

Yeah, with Minor pitching he was looking for a righty bat. He could have used DRob. Or Mesoraco.

Parra with two Ks against lefties. Parra has really come on this year. Now Baker will remove the LOOGY and go for a righty.

Dusty going all in for the win.

It's not the disagreeing. It's the telling other people how they should think, or making condescending comments about someone else's opinions. I tend to lean toward the positive side, but I also understand a fan critiquing their team, especially in game threads. Homer gave up a ton of hits to the weakest hitters on the Braves. He allowed a two run double to the pitcher after an 0-2 count.

Oh, I thought you were talking up Frazier. Forgive me.

Frazier has been disappointing. I spent some time looking at his numbers yesterday.

Tons of grounders this year. Plate discipline numbers not terrible. One thing I noticed is that Todd is hitting fastballs well but not hitting sliders well at all.

Maybe it's just a sophomore slump. Playing excellent defense.

I hate it when 390 feet isn't enough.

Luck definitely hasn't been on the Reds side today.

You "never" thought you'd see the day when someone advocated keeping Manny Parra in a baseball game?

Someone needs a nap if someone takes offense at what Doug said there.

Yes, I never thought it. In his career he has been a terrible pitcher. He came into the 2013 season with an ERA over 5.00. I never thought I would see it.

But he has had some limited patches of success. And even you acknowledged he has been good recently. With 2 outs in the 7th, down 2 runs, I see no reason to pull a guy who struck out the only 2 batters he faced for the sake of a righty/righty matchup. I'm not saying Parra is Koufax. But he had good stuff today and has recently. No reason to bring in a new pitcher in that situation. That's all I was saying.
