I've been researching the players of the Reds of 1966, which is the first year I can remember following them as a little kid. Anyway, Ted Davidson was a promising young pitcher in 1965-66, but in March 1967 he was shot 3 times by his estranged wife in a Tampa bar during spring training. He recovered and pitched later that year, but was out of baseball in a couple of years. Below is one link to an article of the time from the St. Petersburg newspaper. I'm pretty good at Internet research. But I can find no info beyond what was on, and what I've added to, Wikipedia, either on him or on his wife. No obits or articles on either one (he died in Arizona in 2006). Did they follow through with any murder charge against his wife? Did she serve time? What became of him? Did he have any kids or did he marry again? What did he do for the nearly 40 years after baseball? Someone out there must know more . . .

Welcome to the world of pre-internet research. Sometimes the best thing is to call the library in the town where it happened. Many of them have maintained vertical files for years, veritable gold mines of information outside the google search, stuff that's not likely to ever get digitized, contrary to popular belief.

Finally found this online. Charges were dismissed as of April 1967.
