We'll be at all 3 games this weekend. Tonight, sitting about 15 rows behind the Reds dugout, tomorrow, 1st row above the BP and Sunday...not sure yet, but somewhere good :)

Got bets all over w/ coworkers on the series. Go Reds!

The clouds here look ominous, but it's going to be fine all weekend. Oppressively hot, but not enough rain to cause an issue.

I'll do it.

Jay Bruce 2/4 with 5 RBI batting 4th last game.....scored 10 runs

Potential 7th inning matchup outweighs the first 6 innings.

Doesn't matter...Rockies JV team tonight.

Reds 7
Rockies 3

I hope Ludwick has a big game. That said I would have left well enough alone with the lineup from Wednesday.

I'm not getting a good vibe about this game... pitcher with potential lingering ailment, sitting half their studs on offense, our workhorse on the mound.... it all has the makings of an easy victory, and we know how those usually go.

RedlegJake
08-30-2013, 08:07 PM
baseball is impossible to figure. I had the Reds the favorite in those first two games with the Birds and losing to Wainwright. Never works out the way you figure it. Beat an ace and the kid you never heard of stops your team cold. Or a .188 hitting utility man hits 2 homers off your ace and beats you. Never seems to fail. Of course, sometimes the same baseball mystery works for you, too.

RedlegJake
08-30-2013, 08:10 PM
In 4th in Pitt Bucs lead 4-0, Miller at 70 pitches already, Liriano breezing. Nats trail 2-1 in 6th. DBacks start an hour after the Reds.

_Sir_Charles_
08-30-2013, 08:36 PM
That's what ESPN had, but they just had a different matchup for the series on Fox.

DeLaRosa tonight, third game was Nicasio. I missed who the middle game was. Pretty sure it wasn't Manship.

~edit~ It was De La Rosa, Nicasio then CHATWOOD.

Tom Servo

Manship was scheduled for tonight, but they got news that Tyler Chatwood would be ready to return Sunday so they bumped Manship.

The metrics suggest so strongly otherwise. A play that looks like a great play for a guy that makes poor jumps is often caught easily by an excellent fielder. What I'm saying is it is hard to make a conclusion either way just watching at home.

Problem I see is bullpen usage. This looks like the kind of series where runs will be scored, starters may not work that long. Potential is for Reds to burn through the bullpen.

This game is still winnable but Dusty needs to avoid going overboard using his pen. Need them reasonably fresh for the Cards next week.

Hard to assess an offense as a whole based on one game. The offense has been a problem much longer than just one game, though.

They have talent, but they are way too prone to to extended periods where they absolutely can't do anything - to the point where middling journeyman pitchers can completely shut them down.
