I think I'm anticipating this game more than any other yet this season.

Don't expect us to win it but certainly didn't predict we'd be this game away from sweeping the Dodgers.

I love that those media bastards chose this game to be the "sacrificial lamb" to get clobbered in the ratings opposite Tony and Eli. Could care less and won't be switching channels even for a second.

It's okay if we don't win this one. But it'd also be an amazingly sweet and wonderful thing if we do. Crap--still more than 5 hours from now.

Big problem for me. I got rid of cable and have been watching Reds games online. But I'm blacked out for this one. I usually just go to a sports bar in that case, but I'm afraid they will have all their TV's on the NFL game.

I think Hamilton's role is perfect right now and I don't expect it to change the remainder of the season...nor do I think it should.

Having said that...I do hope to see him in the line-up and some point.

It's really amazing how the Hamilton thing has worked out. It's one thing to put him on 1B and have him steal 2nd, but he doesn't score hugely important runs unless you get a clutch hit behind him. Statistically speaking we only get clutch hits one out of every 4 tries. Kudos to the Reds for knocking him in so many times this past week

A decent sports bar, especially in the midwest, should have the game on at least one of multiple TVs. The NFL game tonight is Dallas/NY. Here in DC, we have plenty of sports bars that favor football but usually won't go all in (all sets) to football. Also, most cities will have baseball bars, etc, if you look 'em up or ask around. Can't imagine no bar in Dayton would be showing this game. That's even more unimaginable to me than GABP drawing fewer than 30K for a sunny, weekend, September series with the Cards.

The site provided looks funky on my Mac also FWIW.

Well with some on that site you actually have to wait them out or else you get a pop up and others have deceptive x signs for closing them. So did the first computer you had have punch cards? Those were fun.

used the punch cards in college --

first one I owned was an Apple 2+ -- paid @ $5,000 dollars for it (very serious money) - green screen -- 2 floppy drives that held 143K each -- no hard drive - dot matrix printer hammering out 80 characters per second

300 baud modem and I was on what became the internet -- but you had to have the phone numbers of the boards you wanted to dial into - all long distance - then came CompuServe and a whole world started to open up.

Sure. I like football too. My point is just that times change. The NFL was once more or less irrelevant in the public conscience and, as much as football dominates airwaves and mindshare today, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that changes yet again in the next 50 years.

Figure it out I guess. My God we are finally beating playoff type teams, the park is electric, Hamilton and Chapman are lighting up the team, Homer has a great game going, Votto is one of the very best, Phillips over 100 RBI, Cozy going good, Luddy back, Bruce going for 75 XBH and maybe a GG, both catchers doing well and you are bothered so by a top 10 MVP type player who got picked off? It was a tremendous move and he got him. Getting picked off like that isn't any different than getting nailed at 2nd stealing....it's not like got out on a routine type play anyone could make....it was a great pickoff move.

He wasn't supposed to get on anyways according to many.

He does make too many base running blunders and is not a great CF....but he is an incredible upgrade from the .290 OPS guy who could not make a sliding or diving catch....but could strikeout 200 times.

Once again, Hershiser is wrong. Chris Welsh has discussed this many times. There is no "45 degree" line. You have to step to where you are throwing. While Kershaw did not step to the plate, he also did not step to first base. Hence, a balk.

Of course, Hershiser is also the guy who once said that gravity pulls on a curveball more than a fastball. (I guess Orel skipped physics class at BGSU.)
