Jamie Ramsey has discussed this before and talked about the cost. I think they need a sponsor to take off with it and do it. Or at least do certain sections of the stadium and advertise those seats as wifi-equipped. The number of access points you'd need to cover the entire stadium would be pretty ridiculous, not to mention how big of a pipe you'd need out to the internet.

I think it's common almost everywhere. San Fran supposedly has a great system, but they're also home to Cisco. Based on this old article from February, sounds like a major issue at all sports venues:

I've been at other stadiums with wifi, and even then it's really slow, almost worse because it blocks out the regular cell service. Remember, you're going to have tens of thousands of people using it in a very confined space. To get a wifi signal strong enough to cover that would be extremely expensive.

I understand the technical challenges, but they aren't that huge. It's a very solvable problem. Networks can to those load levels easy.

It seems like it should be easy, but once you start looking at the whole stadium, it's not. The sun/moon deck would be really hard. Club level, pretty easy. Left field seats, easy. Field box seats down by the dugouts, tough. Upper levels could be done, but still a LOT of access points and cabling.

Both bullpens going... Leake over 100 pitches...

A rare feat for Reds starters.....all of whom are in the NL top 20 for fewest pitches per inning.

Arroyo leads the NL at 14.1, Leake 8th at 14.9, Latos 13th at 15.3, Homer 20th at 15.7

Add in the fact that they lead the NL in strikeouts, and it makes it all the more enjoyable to watch.

I believe the pitches/inning during the lost decade was around 32. At least it felt like that on a nightly basis.

Funny, I was looking up his career vs. 2013 splits as he hit that HR. His BA against LHP and RHP is almost equal for his career...but this year, he's abysmal against lefties (around .111), and not very good against righties (.227). Career-wise, he's at .232 and .233.

Huge...no, we're talking colossal...relief with this game.

Here's the thing for those who worry most (not me, though I certainly do worry). With rare exception the Cincinnati Reds don't do collapses. That's Pittsburgh's department. We can, and often do, underperform and fall short of expectations.

This year, it feels pretty damn likely we'll again make the postseason but I'd really, really like to see the team make a serious run for the division. It's still very doable. And that would make some postseason durabilty more likely.

I'm in DC. I come to Cincinnati 2-3 times each year for games. Have already been twice this year and will catch them at PNC in a couple of weeks. But, I decided after last year's LDS debacle that I wouldn't spend the money on postseason tix unless they make the LCS.

So, let's keep this winning going. Let's get to the LCS if not WS so I can come witness it myself!

This has been a Public Service Announcement for Dusty, Joey, Brandon, JJ, Zach, Bronson, Billy, Bruce, Shin-Soo, Todd, Ryan, Homer, Mat, Mike, Devin, Aroldis and the others. :)

I know losing the series to the Cubbies was unexpected, but still a 7-3 homestand meets any kind of reasonable expectations. Even if we had won the series as expected, it would have been 8-2, and that would have been unexpected in any kind of combination. So, not a disaster.

Don't forget, even the mighty Turd Birds lost a series at home to the Scrubbies.

You hear announcers - a lot of the time our own - bemoan the fact that the Reds don't turn a lot of double plays. What they don't say is that's because they get a lot of strikeouts.

Yep, usually the teams that brag about "leading the league in DP turned" have bad pitching staffs that allow lots of baserunners.
