Votto and Bruce, .973 and .963, hit Lohse the best on the ballclub. Phillips at .500 and Ludwick at .285 OPS haven't. Those are the ones with some meaningful history of at bats.

With few at bats, Heisey (a HR) and Izturis (two doubles) have done well, on the bench tonight. Mes .788, Cozart .691 both playing. Choo 2 for 12. Hannahan playing, neither Frazier nor Hannahan has done much in few at bats.

Ramirez .804 in 21 at bats against Latos. In fewer at bats, good numbers for Aoki, Gomez, Segura. A number of Brewer hitters have done well v. Mat so far.
Braun only .426, but he's not around.

Aoki and Gomez with two HRs against Latos, Segura one.

Khris Davis who has hit the Reds hard is out with a wrist injury. Could be back soon, but not playing tonight. It's Aoki, Segura, Lucroy, Ramirez, Gomez, Gennett, Halton, Schafer, Lohse.

Reds seem to have a distinct pitching advantage tomorrow with Bailey who has been on fire. Sunday it's Arroyo v. Gallardo, so maybe an edge to the Brew, Gallardo has been hot as well.

So tonight would be a nice game to win. Should be a tough battle. Latos has done well but not many Ks of late. Lohse can always have a good game, hasn't been hot of late.

Hope I'm wrong, really really wrong, but I'm sensing it's overdue for a Latos Letdown.

Well, one might think so. His Ks are down this month. His ERA is good but his pitching BABIP is a very fortunate .231 in September. So while Mat has had two good games, there are some signs.

And the Brewers have hit Latos for an .870 OPS this season.

All of which probably means nothing. Depends on how his stuff is tonight more than anything.

And Lohse has a 6.55 ERA this month, a bad OPS against. 1-1 with a low ERA against Reds this year.

Taking 2 out of 3 keeps you in the Central title hunt and improves your chance at the home 1 game playoff.

Also tells Nationals to just stop trying.

Give away an out. Are the chances of Latos hitting into a DP really so high that you don't even give him the chance to hit a fly ball?

What happened? What inning and what is the score?

Good hit by Luddy, crapper by Hannahan.....Cozart hits it up middle and an in between hop wasn't cleanly fielded by Segura....but deflects it to Scooter. Scooter looks to 1st....then to 3rd and Segura stood 5 feet from second and was spectating which could've been a gimme out at 2nd.....bases loaded. Meso hits a 1 hopper to 3rd and instead of going home for an easy force and possible DP, replacement 3rd baseman slings it to 2nd and Meso beats out the DP.

Hmmm wonder why? Maybe it's the only guaranteed inning to face every teams lead off and #3 hitter and if anyone gets on they get 2 RBI guys batting next.

If you don't see a lack of something - energy, fire, desire - call it whatever you want - I don't know what to tell you. I call it flat. They are getting beat by clearly inferior teams, second rate pitching, and making dumb mistakes several times a game. Flat.

I call it "they've only scored one run and the other team has scored on two bloops." It's major league baseball. You're gonna lose to some crappy teams and crappy pitchers sometimes.

This offense does this all too often, though. They can explode but they are way too capable of being shut down. So flat may be wrong. Improperly constructed could be better. But the pitching I have no complaint with.

Posted a day or two ago that you could expect the Nats to keep rolling this weekend with the Phils in town. Next week the Braves come into DC. Then the road trip through Phoenix and St. Louis. Shouldn't be a problem to stop the train then.

That is, unless we were to totally collapse and, I'm sorry, just don't see that happening though I know, I know...some of you are really concerned.

Totally true but, at the end of the day, Latos wants what we all want. Division championship or, at least, the PS oppy. And we'll all get that.

Nights like tonight are absolutely key if we're going to have any shot at the division.

kc, you're like my special project here. love you longtime, my friend but you worry too much.

The Nats are not going to steamroll the Braves and Cards like they have those NL titans the Fish and Mets. But, the Big Idea is this: it doesn't even matter if they run the table unless we suddenly lost a boatload of games.

So yeah, we need to "play better." Let's have a little faith they will. They have more than enough talent. They'll be fine. We'll be fine. At least into the post-season. Beyond that, no promises. Just hope.

Of course true about the D and Hoover but all that gets amplified when you don't score. It has to be okay for a pitcher to give up a couple of runs, not have his best stuff or an error to be made.

When you score 0 or 1 run, it just puts too much pressure on everyone else. So, maybe not "entirely" but surely Problem #1 for this game...so far.

The first one definitely was un catchable for him.

I agree as he never lays out a la Andruw Jones, Marlon Byrd or really many/most CF/OF....he does slide a lot to make catches but some require the little extra the full dive gives you.

39,000 to watch a team playing out the string. Milwaukee's a good baseball town.

The retractable seems to have worked well in bad weather Milwaukee along with moving over to the NL to form a huge natural rivalry with the Cubs.

Before 2001 the Brewers drew over 2M once in their history and Milwaukee was largely a baseball wasteland. Even 2002/2003 they were well below 2M in the new park.

Milwaukee is a good candidate to see the attendance plummet over the next couple of seasons. They are riding the season ticket wave from some good years pre-2012 and living the Ryan Braun lie.

Anyone notice the Mariners couldn't draw 10,000 the other night?

Wisconsin folks didn't take kindly to seeing the Braves steal out of town in the 60s, and it took a long long time for them to warm up to the Brewers. And Milwuakee was never an American League city. Plus the weather was always a factor until the new stadium was built. Baseball is not a cold weather game.
