Just started rewatching this show. I know it tailed off a little the last couple seasons, but this show was amazing. I know people loved the wire, but The Shield can hold its ground with almost any show. Was anyone else a fan?

Awesome show. Blew through it in 2010. I think only Season 6 was a little disappointing as well as the final story about the Mexican gang which didn't seem to really be covering anything new, but for my money The Shield has the best final episodes of any drama around.

I watched the series in real time except I never saw the pilot until about a month ago on Amazon Prime. I then re-watched a few more episodes. It holds up well.

I think it was the best all-time TV drama in the category of "hard core". Approached historically by The Sopranos and recently by Breaking Bad, but not surpassed by either. The production quality, writing, acting, each week was like a mini-major-motion-picture. I mean, 50 minutes of theater-quality entertainment I would have gotten from a 3-to-4 star movie. Fantastic show.
