Actually, if that article is correct, he was nearly 80:

Denver was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., on Jan 9, 1935. He discovered acting while studying law at Loyola University in Los Angeles in the 1950s. While struggling to make it as an actor, he taught private school and worked for a time at a post office.

Just so there is no confusion on the cast of Barney miller, here is an update. We haven't been doing so hot with Gilligan's Island, I don't want any confusion (though admittedly I did add to the confusion with Tina Louise) on what was possibly the weirdest sitcom to grace the airwaves:

Name Born Status Died Age
Hal Linden 3/20/1931 alive 82

Max Gail 4/5/1943 alive 70

Ron Glass 7/10/1945 alive 68
Abe Vigoda 2/24/1921 alive 92
Jack Soo 10/28/1917 dead 1/11/1979 (61)

Gregory Sierra 1/25/1941 alive 72
Barbara Barrie 5/23/1931 alive 82

At first I marveled at the fact that someone would have a chart like this, then I thought of our discussion here and know EXACTLY why they have this.

Here's a tidbit about Dawn Wells (Mary Ann) from imdb. Unlike the other castaways, she made millions off the re runs.

It has long been stated that the entire cast of "Gilligan's Island" never received residuals beyond the first four reruns of each episode. This was true for the entire cast except Dawn Wells. When the show was picked up by CBS and Dawn was cast to replace Nancy McCarthy, she was married to her agent at the time. In her original contract she was to be paid $1200 per week plus the residual contract the six other castaways received. Her husband/agent said that should the show become successful Dawn would not benefit from receiving such a limited residual option. Believing the show would flop, the CBS executives humored Dawn and her husband and put a clause in her contract giving her long-term residuals should the show ever syndicate. As a result from that clause Dawn has made literally millions of dollars as the years have gone by from syndication of "Gilligan's Island". This was never public knowledge. Dawn and series creator Sherwood Schwartz are the only individuals to profit long-term from the series.

UPDATE: Although Ray Price's son reported earlier today that his father had died, the statement was made in error. Rolling Stone spoke with Janie Price, Ray Price's wife of 45 years, and she says, "He is still with us," adding that Price's son released the statement of his passing prematurely. Price is currently surrounded by loved ones including a Pastor at home in Mount Pleasant, Texas. "It's been an honor to walk this road with him," Janie says of her husband. "It's a sad day. We are losing a great

man."
