if we're going as a cash grab: "Thriller"

if we're going for art: "If I Go Away" (Savatage)

and just because it makes me happy: "Lugdūnon" (Eluveitie)

Don't It Make You Wanna Dance by Jerry Jeff Walker, but I think someone else wrote it. By no means my "favorite" song, it just always puts me in a better mood. It would be nice to create something with that effect on others.

There are lots of more famous songs, but when as a guitarist I think of a song I wish I could write, this is one I always think about. It's just perfect.

Interesting. especially with your selection of Two of Us. I always loved that song. Have you ever seen the movie "Two Of Us", which is a fictional account of Paul's visit to Lennon at the Dakota in the mid-70s? I saw it years ago, but recently purchased the DVD. An enjoyable movie for Beatle fans.

I have not seen that DVD, but I will look for it. I remember hearing about a story from the mid-1970s when Paul was spending the evening with John Lennon at his New York Dakota apartment and watching Saturday Night Live on TV. Lauren Michaels jokingly offered the Beatles $3,000 to appear on the show. John and Paul talked about catching a cab to the show but decided against it.

"Two of Us" reminds me of one of my long time friends. We have been friends since we were kids and reunions usually involve way too much Yuengling, Jack Daniels, and reminiscing about our seriously wild youthful ways.

"In My Life" has many more serious connections. I love both songs.

Gotta be the Beatles.

"Why Don't we Do it in the Road?"

Oh, wait...
... I meant "Yesterday" with "I Saw Her Standing There" a close second.

I have always heard that was the show George was on and a traffic jam was the reason there wasn't a Beatle reunion, that story is probably just legend though.

In high school, some friends and I would sing this at the top of our lungs until the last line when only Skip would say with perfect passion, "... for God's sake...turn around." We would crack up at that point. We were silly boys.

Where have all the flowers gone?

The times they are a changin'.

Gimme Shelter

Bargain

Something

Dirty Creature (Split Enz)

Changes

Point Blank (Springsteen)

One (U2)

and many more. The down side is that if I'd written these songs, no one would have ever heard them.

"Jesus
What's the reason
For these scars that will never heal
Hearts that no longer feel
Eyes that can no longer see

Jesus
What's the reason
For this child that will not survive
With all her dreams inside
Could she mean nothing to thee

And Jesus please tell me if you can recall
Just where you were when this sparrow did fall

Jesus
What's the reason
Every tear isn't weighed the same
Could you have died in vain
If we have short memories

And Jesus would you then come down from your cross
Return every nail and say we are lost
<solo>

<bridge>

And in the dark we seek your silent company
For each hope that arrives and fades from memory
Still after all this time our loss you won't concede
For in the dead of night the rumor is
Your hands they still bleed
Still bleed
Still bleed
Still bleed

Jesus
It would seem then
That somehow you still trust
You have more faith than us
Perhaps that is how it should be"
