Since I started this. You can trade but it has to be timely. In order to do so the team trading away the pick may only do so when it is their turn. The team trading away the pick must announce the trade. The team acquiring should make the selection quickly. I will adjust the picks as we go. Please try to be realistic. No trades of existing NFL players. Only picks for picks.

I say we go ahead and get it started. I know, how about we just do it like we do our prospects in the minors section? That way everyone gets a say in every pick? Or we can get going and if no one takes a specific choice by the time the pick has come up then the 1st to claim the pick can make the selection. I will be willing to do so and I know we have several who would be happy to make many choices, let's just get it going, what do you all say to both of these?

Well, well, well. Here we are again. In 2006 the Texans shocked the football world drafting Mario Williams with the first pick instead of Reggie Bush, who was considered by many to be a can't miss prospect and a sure fire successor to Ledanian Tomlinson as the perennial dual threat running back in the nfl. Looks like it may have been the right call as Williams had a pretty good run with the Texans and bush is oft injured and on his 3rd nfl team. What will the Texans do this year?
With the 1st pick, the Houston Texans select...
Jadeveon Clowney, DE S Carolina
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/jadeveon-clowney?id=2543456
With a talent laden QB draft, I'm confident the texans will find a worthy QB later, but for now, if you have a chance to draft a freak, you do it. Why wouldn't you? That's a clown question, bro.
WVRed
04-07-2014, 11:20 AM
With the second pick, the St Louis Rams select Sammy Watkins, wide receiver from Clemson.
We were looking into trading out of this pick and moving down a few spots, but with Clowney off the board and too much money invested in Sam Bradford to take another QB, the Rams add a deep threat to complement Tavon Austin, who is better suited as a slot receiver.
If anybody is still interested in Watkins, PM me and we'll work something out.

I'm heading out for a while so I hate to be the one that everyone is waiting on.
You have to think the Browns go QB here unless the new coach really likes who they have. Thats just IMO, I hope Oakland were to trade down given these early picks but I'm not going to tie things up. Whenever someone picks for Cleveland I'll take OT Greg Robinson Auburn or WR Mike Evans Texas A&M if Robinson is chosen by Cleveland.
Mario-Rijo

The steal of the draft already? Wow! The Browns go from wanna be's to legit playoff contenders with a solid QB, and despite all the hype there is but one sure fire solid to above QB available at this point in the draft.
With the 4th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft the Cleveland Browns Select:
QB Blake Bortles UCF

With the 6th pick of the 2014 NFL Redszone Mock Draft the Atlanta Falcons select:
Jake Matthews
OT | Texas A&M
At 6'6" 308 lbs and impressive instincts and footwork, Mathews may be the protection Matt Ryan lacked in 2013.

Round 1, Pick 7 -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
With the 7th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select TEDDY BRIDGEWATER, QB - LOUISVILLE.
http://i2.cdn.turner.com/si/dam/assets/130815103459-teddy-bridgewater-single-image-cut.jpg
I'm among those who feel that Mike Glennon should have been given a shot to claim the starting job in 2014 after posting a 19-9 TD/INT ratio in his freshman campaign, but it's incredibly apparent that new head coach Lovie Smith and new offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford don't see Glennon as starting material. They brought in career backup, and 2013 flash-in-the-pan, Josh McCown and immediately named him the top of the depth chart for 2014 over Glennon, but I can't see any rational head coach going into the season with no plan at QB other than a guy who had numbers south of Brandon Weeden for his career prior to his hot stretch of 5 starts last season.
With Bridgewater, the Buccaneers push the reset button at the QB position after a nightmarish end to the Josh Freeman era in 2013. While there's been recent talk of Bridgewater falling in the draft, yours truly feels it to be complete hogwash. In Bridgewater, the Buccaneers get a guy with off-the-charts intangibles and a complete pocket-passing game (and the athleticism to move and extend the play as a last resort). The deeper statistical analysis also loves Bridgewater, who killed it on 3rd down over the course of his career and excelled in an offense that offered very few opportunities for stat-padding completions behind or at the line of scrimmage.
In short, Bridgewater would be the Buccaneers pick even if all 3 of the QBs were on the board. He lacks the obvious holes in his game that Bortles will be expected to fill at the NFL level and the major character questions raised by Johnny Manziel. He fits the mold of a QB that Lovie Smith and Jeff Tedford can use from Week 1: incredibly intelligent, accurate with the football, and an ability to function in an offense (as opposed to relying on pure athleticism and splash plays).
With Sammy Watkins -- really the only other tempting pick of the so-called "top of the class" -- off the board, this becomes a no-brainer selection for the Buccaneers.

This is a very deep draft for WRs, and I don't think that position is a #1 priority for either team.

With the 23rd Selection in the 2014 NFL Draft the Kansas City Chiefs select:
Brandin Cooks WR Oregon St.
6999
Statement from the Chiefs Front Office: We felt adding another explosive playmaker to our offense was gonna go the furthest in helping us improve from last season to next. Brandin Cooks is a once in a decade talent and should fit nicely in our short passing game and should do well creating after the catch. In essence he helps us stretch the field in every manner, which allows for all our playmakers to be better thus our offense to be more explosive.

This pick comes down to several players that will likely be on the board when the Bengals actually pick. I considered Kony Ealy, Bradley Roby, Ryan Shazier, and Kyle Fuller. There are several safeties that I like but they are more round two types. Given the age of the corners, this is a position that must be upgraded, and at the same time who hasn't grown weary of Rey Maualuga? With this in mind, the Cincinnati Bengals select
Ryan Shazier
7000
Shazier provides the explosive speed element to the front seven. He is a true 3 down linebacker, that is the perfect compliment to Vontaze Burfict, especially in nickel packages. We are aware of the age of the secondary, and it will be addressed in this draft, but the number of explosive playmakers is very limited, picking 24th the Bengals are selecting the top 4-3 Linebacker in the draft.

With the 25th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft the San Diego Chargers select:
Bradley Roby CB Ohio St.
7004
Statement from the Chargers front office: We felt like the stars aligned for us on this particular choice. Bradley Roby in our estimation was thee most physically gifted Cornerback in the draft and it just so happens we were hoping we could address that position early in this draft. Bradley played in a top conference against some of the elite competition in the country and held his own. He did fall off the map a bit last season but we believe we can help with some fundamental issues.

Kelvin Benjamin WR Florida St.

Statement from the Cleveland Browns front office (no not Kevin Costner & company, the other most recent F.O.) - We are awfully pleased to select both Blake Bortles and Kelvin Benjamin to our ever evolving but explosive offense. We felt Blake was the clear best QB in the draft and Kelvin is a great all around weapon but even more specifically in the red zone. We are obviously not done just yet but this is a fantastic start to our draft.

If Atlanta doesn't trade up, that would be a dream scenario for them. Solidifying a bad offensive line and still getting a top pass rusher

With the departure of Mike Williams in free agency, the Bucs would be in need of a new WR to start alongside Vincent Jackson anyway. With the selection of Bridgewater in the first round, the need to give him weapons increases as well.
JORDAN MATTHEWS, WR Vanderbilt
http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Jordan+Matthews+Mississippi+v+Vanderbilt+gjNKOGmyb 6ll.jpg
Matthews produced at a high level in the SEC, possesses the type of size/speed combination that allows him to work both was a traditional WR2 or a slot WR in other formations. He may be a slight overdraft here, but the need at WR is too glaring for Tampa to allow another full round to pass before getting in on the action.

I could see this pick being a guy like Jimmy Garoppolo -- who I'm not necessarily in love with, but would probably represent the last shot to get a guy who projects out to a potential starter. I think the drop off after Garoppolo (down to guys like Mettenberger, McCarron, and Murray) is pretty steep.

I don't think Mettenberger is anywhere close to the same type of prospect as McCarron or Murray. Before the injury, Mettenberger was a consensus first round pick and has one of the best arms in the draft. He would almost certainly go ahead of Garoppolo without the injury and may still.
Apparently McCarron is saying that he's being told to expect to be picked between 16 and 35, which seems crazy to me.

Before I make my pick I just wanted to comment on the Bengals selection. I have come to be at peace with Mike Pollak being the guy to start at OC in that type of power running offense.
