Gainesville Red
04-03-2014, 11:32 AM
Fay tweeted (I think it was Fay) that they were having a meeting at 11:00 to decide if this thing was going to happen. Haven't heard anything else.

Edit: Let me amend that: From the #Reds: Current radar indicates the game will not start on time. However we are hopeful to get the game in today. Gates are open.

and

#Reds will update again at 12:35. I believe once it reaches game time, it's in umpires' hands as far as a rainout.

The Reds decide whether the game is played up until the game actually starts. Then it's in the hands of the umpires. Good to see Fay is in mid-season form.

Do the Reds know that I'm home sick from work today and don't have a whole lot going on?

Do you think if I let them know we could go ahead and get this show on the road?

Seems awfully selfish of them to not play.

People in Cincinnati complain about how bad our meteorologists are and yet most people I know use the Weather Channel for getting weather information. And the weather channel has by far the worst hourly forecasting I've seen in 15 years in the field. There will be still be rain in the area at 6, but it will in no way be widespread like it is right now...

Dumb. Yeah, the hourly forecast that you get on your phone today is way worse than what you got on your 5:00 news 15 years ago.

RedsLvr
04-03-2014, 02:43 PM
Blah. Just trying to let people know that from what I can tell we're not going to see widespread rain by that point. And the weather channel has always used computer generated hourly forecasts which as stated in Edward Lorenz work, will cause chaos in forecasting. So yes, man made hourly forecasts 15 years ago were usually better than the ones on apps today. :)

Marty actually raised this question to Price in their pre-game show. He said both clubs are aware of the risk for any of their players, but that they believe Bailey is well enough to make the start. That said, he seemed to indicate they'd keep a close watch on it. Someone correct me if I'm not remembering this correctly.

Yep. I expected to see in the replay that the guy touched Adams first or even simply said something to him. Apparently Matt Adams was just being a jerk about laying out for a ball and getting denied by a fan. There's no place for that amongst grownups, let alone in a professional baseball game.

That's the sort of thing that they should be showing in the replay. Not that I think it's a big deal, but it probably merits a mention of some sort by the broadcast team. Seems like Thom was about to mention it but the Card's inept outfield defense got in the way.
