I'll update this once lineups are released. To be honest, I just wanted to start this thread now so I could use this picture of Sam LeCure in New York buying a box of cannolis.

And no Hamilton or Cozart:

Bernadina 8
Phillips 4
Votto 3
Bruce 9
Ludwick 7
Frazier 5
Pena 2
Santiago 6
Leake 1

Hamilton must be tired from stealing 2nd base six times yesterday in the 8th, while BP kept fouling off pitches.

I think I would bat Leake 7th in this lineup.

I would feel a lot better about this series if the Mets had went 1-2 instead of 0-3 to start the year. I hate playing teams coming off a sweep. It just always seems like things even out.

Imagine if Dusty sat Billy after 3 games.

This place would be tearing him apart.

Or if he used the 4 worst bullpen pitchers on the staff over LeCure.

For the lineup Dusty had a track record of irritating people with lineup choices. Price is still new the complaining will start soon enough I'm sure.

For LeCure, does anyone know for sure if he is healthy or not? Seemed obvious to use him a couple times yesterday.

Someone smarter than me can answer this question: can Chris Heisey play centerfield?

He just seems like a more obvious choice in the outfield than Bernandina if they're gonna give Billy a night off.

Yeah Heisey can play CF but I think Price is just trying to get everyone a start. I'm not a huge fan of it but whatever.

I will question this decision though, I think this is a mistake sitting Billy today.

I wouldn't have sat Billy tonight.
He should have used LaCure yesterday.

The first question is would Dusty have been torn apart for doing those thing in his 4th major league game managing? If yes then those ripping him would be idiots.

2014 would you rather have Dusty managing here and Price managing someplace else?

Count me as a fan. Guys come out of spring training getting multiple ABs just about every 2-3 days at least. Not a fan of icing the bench players the first week of the regular season. It isn't the World Series and this team isn't full of BRM regulars. Plus, there's a very good chance Bernadina is going to be more productive than Hamilton for awhile (not saying I wouldn't have BHam as the regular, but he's not a 150+ game starter in my book -- kid's real skinny and plays real hard, he's going to need breaks).

There are not many things I miss about living in Brooklyn. Reds (or anyone, really) playing at Citi Field is one of them.

I love Citi Field.

Plenty of room to stretch out, not a bad seat in the park, stubhub makes it cheap.

I like the Caesar Club. Second deck, right behind home plate.

To become a top control/finesse type pitcher, Leake just has to avoid the home run ball. It's what holds him back from moving up a notch as a starting pitcher.

It's because Phillips makes contact. So with the lead off man on base, and perhaps running, BP can be effective. When he goes to right, he does a very good job of keeping rallies going.

The bad part is he doesn't walk much and hits into double plays.

The Reds don't have many better choices. Votto would the best second place hitter. And third place and fourth place and fifth place and . . . .

If I were the Mets, I'd use a lefty reliever in the seventh.

Then righties to finish the game.

Maybe wouldn't work, but the Reds lineup bunches lefties and righties rather than spreading them out. Makes it easy to line up pitchers against them.

Tony Cloninger

It's because Phillips makes contact. So with the lead off man on base, and perhaps running, BP can be effective. When he goes to right, he does a very good job of keeping rallies going.

The bad part is he doesn't walk much and hits into double plays.

The Reds don't have many better choices. Votto would the best second place hitter. And third place and fourth place and fifth place and . . . .

That is good points..... except when hamilton is finally on the 1st thing BOP does is swing at a frweking ball when Hamilton had a good jump on Molina.

Is that what we should expect from this IMO.... low Baseball IQ hitter/baserunner?

Well, as I said, he's not ideal. OTOH the Reds have said it's Phillips best hitting spot, which I never understood.

Yet the Reds don't have a lot of good options hitting second. Particularly against righties, so many of their hitters simply can't hit righties well.

The Reds have a lot of offensive issues IMO.

Something to think about: If Hamilton isn't caught stealing (or doubled off another way), Joey Votto is guaranteed a PA in the 9th inning. Now he's not. That's part of the hidden cost of outs on the bases; lost plate appearances.
