Don't like Heisey hitting lead off but I guess there is no one else in this line-up that can. I guess Hamilton is still hurt.

Nothing more annoying than getting ready to listen to the game but no, we have to have local coverage of Calipari opening his fat yap talking about how he's bought his way to another title game. Looks like it's free on MLB.TV though so I'll listen there.

Earlier posts took words right out ....of me.... WHY shift when these pitchers do not seem to know how to pitch to it.

Cozart needs a map to find RF or just go up the middle. He pulls every and anything....even when they pitch him well outside. Not a very smart hitter at all.

Ugh, the shift argument about where a hitter tends to hit the ball is infuriating. Semi competent hitters (and Matt Adams sure is one) change their tendencies when an entire half of the field is conceded to them. It takes the smallest amount of effort and competence to at least attempt to go the other way when the shift is on. As much as I love Jay Bruce, I wish he displayed more of that mettle.

Cozart continues to swing constantly and at many bad pitches. He simply needs to be more patient and wait for good pitches. If he isn't able to change this soon, he's headed for some team's bench.

I'm a big fan of Zack as a fielder, he's got good power, and last year showed ability to go to the opposite field. None of this will matter if he continues to swing at virtually everything.

I'm on the "He's not worth his salary" boat. If your whole approach is "I'm gonna just get on base so the guys behind me can try to win the game for me" is his ticket, then maybe he's better off in St Louis or Detroit or New York where they can afford a 225 million 2-hole hitter.

The official rule is that hitting the jersey counts as a HBP, so it would have been a failed challenge.

Simon has been a very valuable pitcher for the Reds over the last few years.

I was one who criticized Walt after the first week he was here, when he blew a couple leads and his spot on the 25 man sent Frazier back to the minors. This is the second or third time I've owned up to that, but boy was I ever wrong.

I'm on the "He's not worth his salary" boat. If your whole approach is "I'm gonna just get on base so the guys behind me can try to win the game for me" is his ticket, then maybe he's better off in St Louis or Detroit or New York where they can afford a 225 million 2-hole hitter.

If Parra is so valuable as the lefty specialist that he can't be the closer, shouldn't Price use him as a lefty specialist whenever necessary? Price can't argue that he's against using lefty/lefty match ups all them time, and that Parra is too valuable as a LOOGY to move into the closer role.

Until Chapman returns I guess...but assume he may be used in situational roles as well, especially if he hasn't thrown in a while.

And on this note, anything Price can do to shake-up the sort of status quo that's been going on here for so long under Dusty, would be a good thing...but that has more to do with the lineup than the pitching...yet I don't know how you do that without any young players chomping at the heels of guys on the 40-man.

Do that with Lecure yesterday and we would be 3-3.

I really like the concept. Everyone has off days. If you use 3 or 4 relievers for one inning you increase your chances that you hit one of them on their off days, plus they've all had to get up and throw in the bullpen using up bullets. Conversely if a guy looks good for one inning, he's obviously on for that day. Leave him in for another inning and save everyone else for tomorrow. Makes sense doesn't it?

Yeah. That was pretty much what myself and 757690 were arguing yesterday. Given the injuries to the pen, maybe we have to let a guy go multiple innings. Go unconventional.

Even when Chapman comes back, I think the role should be reconsidered. If Chapman can go two, let him go two. If the game really needs to be "saved" in the 7th...put him in in the 7th. If it happens to occur in the 9th...then the 9th.

I'm certainly not a manager in MLB but letting LeCure go yesterday for a 2nd inning wouldn't have been a bad thing (of course that's hindsight, but I thought so after he threw the 8th) particularly since it was the bottom of their order.

I'll say this about Price: after his move of replacing Hamilton and then sticking with Parra today...he's not afraid to make quick decisions and adjustments.

The ability to develop pitchers who can throw multiple innings on an almost every other day basis......and not just one either, but 2 or 3... Has to be something clubs look to develop in order to quit carrying excess bullpen baggage that are basically what they used to call the 10th or 11th man on the pitching staff. The last guy to get called and mop up.

In addition... you free yourself a roster spot in order to carry a bench player who can actually hit and not just play multiple positions OK but not do much with the bat.

There are no pure PH left on many teams anymore. Giambi is the only one I can think of.

A Roger Freed, Bob Bailey, Jose Morales, Manny Mota type. With offenses going back down to early 90's levels.....It is a need now.
