Louisville jumped ahead in the home half of the fourth on a lead-off double by Jason Bourgeois and a two-out single by Chris Nelson.

Justin Smith is on the mound for the Bats. He promptly surrendered the lead by giving up two runs in the top of the second. Somehow Ryan LaMarre got charged for an error on a stolen base attempt.

Bats trail early, 2-1.

Update: Mike Wilson went yard leading off the Louisville second. 2-2. A kid in the stands was heard shouting, "Jeepers, Mr. Wilson. You hit that ball a long way!"

Both clubs have been stringing goose eggs in Louisville. Still 2-2 going into the fifth.

Daniel Corcino is getting roughed up early for Pensacola. He has given up three runs (two earned) on four hits in the first two innings. One was a home run. He has yet to walk or strike out a batter.

Pensacola is still looking for its first base hit.

Consecutive one-out singles by Lutz, Mattair and Rossmel Perez brought the Blue Fish a run closer in the top of the fourth, cutting the deficit to 3-1.

Corcino is melting down in the bottom of the fourth. After retiring the first two batters, Corcino allowed back-to-back walks, followed by a single, a double and another walk. Three runs in and Huntsville is still batting.

Update: Corcino gets a line-drive out to Selsky. Wahoos down 6-1 through four.

Nothing but zeroes up in Peoria after a three-run Dragons' first.

Carlton Daal is 2-2. Ervin has singled and walked. Buckley has driven home a pair.

Sal Romano has dealt four shutout frames so far.

It is early in the season, but Tanner Rahier is 1-2 in the game and batting over
.300 on the season.

Did Justin Smith sack the Columbus quarterback? More pressing, did he sack Josh Smith? (Neither of which should be confused with our old friend Jordan Smith.)

Louisville strikes for three runs in the 7th. LaMarre walked and was sacrificed to second. Singles by Gotay and Felix Perez brought him home. A Chris Nelson ground out and a Mike Costanzo single delivered insurance.

Lee Hyde came on in the 8th and is threatening to give those runs back. Two walks and a single plate one run. Villarreal is coming on with two runners on and nobody out. Bats lead 5-3.

A bunt single loads them up. A grounder makes it a one-run game. Another ground ball should have had Villarreal out of the inning. But an error by first baseman Mike Costanzo allows the tying run to score.

All knotted up at five heading into the bottom of the 8th.

Note: Yorman Rodriguez has gunned down a runner at second. Donald Lutz has erased another at third.

Daniel Corcino's final line: 4IP 6H 6R 5ER 3BB 0K.

Just a note: that's Josh Smith, not Justin Smith. Go Lipscomb!

Edit: someone beat me to it.

Pedro Villarreal got stuck with an undeserved blown save. Jumbo (or should he be down to
Economy-Size) Diaz gets the win as he pitched a scoreless ninth.

Louisville gets a walk-off single by Chris Nelson. Ruben Gotay led off the home half of the ninth with a double. Felix Perez sacrificed him to second. Nelson singled him home.

Louisville moves to 4-2 with the 6-5 win.

Gotay goes 2-5. A single, a double, two runs scored, including the game winner.
Felix Perez gets a pair of singles. He scored once and touched home once.
Chris Nelson remains en fuego. He reached base four times, three singles and a base on balls. He drove in three, including the walk-off winner.

Bakersfield about to start their first roadie of 2014. Mike Dennhardt is on the mound. They will be facing the San Jose Warwicks. And, yes, everyone knows the way to San Jose. Just take a left at Albuquerque.
