Louisville (7-5) once again is hosting division-leading Indianapolis. The second-place Bats will be looking to creep a game closer. Chien-Ming Wang will be on the mound for Louisville. The Bats' righthander will be making his third start of the campaign. He has experienced some wildness in his first two starts, walking 8 batters over the span of 10 innings. His ERA is 5.40.

Pensacola (7-6) will once again be facing the Montgomery in game number four of a five-game set. The Wahoo have dropped 2 of the first 3. The Blue Fish are currently is a three-way tie for the division lead along with the Biscuits and the BayBears. Pensacola will lean on the right arm of Jon Moscot, who has gotten off to a fast start here in 2014. After two starts, Moscot's ERA is a miniscule 0.90. In ten innings, he has fanned 9 and walked only 2.

Bakersfield (11-3) will host the San Jose GDPs in the first of three. The Blaze sit atop their division. Pitching duties will be handled by Wandy Peralta. Peralta has struggled out of the gate this season, allowing ten hits and walking four in just 8.2 innings of work. He has fanned just four. It is Thirsty Thursday so get there early and often. Incidentally, Bakersfield leads the league in mascots as well with Torch, Heater and Pat D. Panda.

Dayton (9-3) will host the Kane County Mutineers. Both teams lead their respective divisions by a game and a half. Lefty Amir Garrett will try to shackle the Mutineers. Garrett has struck out 11 Midwest League batters in ten innings. So far he has proven to be a little too hittable, however, yielding 14 base hits during that span.

Wang gets seriously roughed up in the first, allowing a walk, four singles and a sac fly. Louisville trails 3-0 after a half an inning of play.

Bats come out swinging in the bottom half of the frame. Irribarren triples and Gotay does him one better, leaving the yard. That is his fifth home run on the year.

Bender, like Garrett before him, is being pounded. Kane County posts another four-spot in the third. Dragons trail 9-zip. With regards to the team's sub-2 ERA entering the game, this one is going to leave a mark.

It kinda stinks being here. 15 up and 15 down for the home team.

Not that it really matters, but how do you get picked off of second when you are trailing 12-0?

Incidentally, Pedro Diaz came on and pitched three innings, giving up a pair of runs in the sixth.

Lee Hyde and Sharky Rogers each pitched a perfect inning, striking out two. Louisville is heading into the bottom of the ninth needing four to tie. They put two baserunners on but fail to score. Louisville falls by a count of 6-2.

Sebastian Elizalde triples in the bottom of the seventh and scores on a ground out. Dayton is on the board! 12-1.

Alejandro Chacin will pitch the 8th for the Dragons. Kane County strikes for an unearned run in the 8th. An error on Carlton Daal, his seventh of the season, aided in pushing the run across. Chacin struck out two.

Jon Moscot is through for the night. He had a quality start: 6.1IP 5H 3R 3ER 3BB 6K. Shane Dyer came on to get the last two outs in the seventh, striking out a pair. Pensacola still trails 3-2.

Juan Silverio is 2-2 on the night with a walk. He is now hitting .385.

Fabian Williamson is on for Pensacola. The 25-year-old lefty has been bouncing around in the minors for nearly a decade. He has pitched well in the early going for Pensacola, with 7 Ks in 4.1 innings of work.

Dayton gets pounded into submission, 13-1. Alejandro Chacin finished up two nice innings of work. 2IP 2H 1R 0ER 0BB 3K. You know things aren't going your way when 7, yes 7, opposing hitters garner as many hits as your entire team does.

Dragons manage only two hits on the game, a single by Amaral and Elizalde's triple, as they have their winning streak snapped and fall to 9-4.

Fabian Williamson fires a 1-2-3 8th inning, striking out two. Pensacola trails 3-2 heading into the ninth.

Williamson hits the first batter he faces in the ninth and then came the rains. Currently in a rain delay in Pensacola. I just checked Gameday and the pitch that hit Segovia looked to be in the strike zone.

Bakersfield is underway. They played through a scoreless first. Kyle Waldrop doubled with two outs but was left stranded. He is still batting above the Ted Line.

San Jose gets on the scoreboard first with a run in the top of the second. Waldrop gunned down a runner at second to help mitigate the damage.
Blaze trail 1-0.

Bakersfield ties the game in the bottom of the second without the benefit of a hit. Marquez Smith walks. Tolisano is safe on a force out. Chris Berset walks to load them up. Zach Vincej lifts a sac fly to center to bring Smith home. 1-1 after 2.

Smith was issued his second base on balls in the bottom of the third. He stole second but was left stranded. On to the fourth still knotted up at one run apiece.

Peralta yields a run in the top of the fourth on a double and a single. He has allowed six hits but just two runs through four. Blaze are down 2-1.

Former Reds' farmhands updates:

Ronald 'El Raton' Torreyes is in the Astros farm system now. He is 21 and currently plays in AAA. He has tripled in a pinch-hitting role tonight. His current slash line: .308/.345/.423/.768. He has struck out only 3 times in 54 plate appearances.

Denis Phipps. He is with the White Sox. He is 28 and currently plays in AAA. He struck out in his only at-bat tonight. His current slash line: .152/.263/.242/.505.

Kyle Lotzkar. He is a Texas Ranger farmhand. He still just 24 and is in AA. 6.0IP 6H 3R 3ER 2BB 5K.

Henry Rodriguez does not seem to be playing with anyone.

Josh Fellhauer also does not seem to be playing with anyone.

Wandy Peralta gave up a two-run jack in the fourth and is done for the night. 5IP 8H 4R 4ER 0BB 3K. Ben Klimesh has followed up with a scoreless frame.

Bakersfield hit total is stuck on one. Blaze trail 4-1 in the sixth.

Marquez Smith draws his third walk on the night. He comes home on a John Tolisano double and a wild pitch.

In an oddity, Bakersfield now has two players that have three plate appearances each and yet no official at-bats. Smith has walked three times. Vincej has walked twice and lifted a sac fly to center.

It is now a 4-2 deficit.

San Jose gets back-to-back home runs in a four-run seventh.

In the bottom of the seventh, Kyle Waldrop singles for his second hit of the night.

Bakersfield trails 8-2 after seven. Buenos Noches o senores.

If you are like me coming to check on Winker, it appears to be an off day for him.

5 straight multi-hit games for him.

Is Torreyes a really bad defender or something? It's kinda of weird he's bounced around so much when you consider he's in AAA being productive at the age of 21.

I think he's a pretty good defender. He didn't really have a spot in the Cubs organization though. Javier Baez will be moving to 2B so that he can be moved up and play alongside Castro. And Alcantara is a better prospect also at AAA. So even though he has played well, he was third on the depth chart. Unlikely to get moved up without injuries.

Good defender, but when you are the size of a high school freshman, you have to really prove yourself.
