One reason being that Heisey seems to come up big in PH situations.

Based on what I saw yesterday, the Cubs look absolutely awful. We think our lineup has problems sometimes, but they are sending out four guys who have batting averages below .210 today! The problem is mostly pronounced when you get below the fifth spot in their lineup as well.

In my opinion, there's no excuse for us not to sweep this series and get back to .500 by Sunday evening.

I usually listen to games on the radio and I have to say that I much prefer it over TV. I watched the TV broadcast of the game yesterday and the announcers hardly talked about what was going on with errors in the field, etc. Game seems to go by faster when I listen to it on the radio as well.

Yes they do. And, Votto looked at a Called Strike at that at-bat. Great hitters are only going to get one of them, and Votto missed the opportunity. I'm not cutting Votto any slack for his dumb approach to hitting. Every intelligent Major League Baseball player agrees that you approach your at-bat "to the situation". Votto refuses to recognize that. This makes Votto's approach dumb. He doesn't get it. Not in a million years would Barry Larkin agree with Votto.

A game of inches. Brandon just missed the same pitch for strike three with men on twice today. Jackson throws him a lot of low off-speed stuff and then comes with a fastball up in the zone. The first time he was so close I thought he had hit it, but it went right by him. He was just a split second to slow on that or it would have been three runs. :(

I'm going with the umpire. If it was close enough for him to call it a strike, especially considering how generous umpires are with Votto's strike zone in favor of Votto most of the time, it was close enough for Votto to put the ball into play for a single and cut a three-run lead down to two with four innings to play. This isn't a club built for the big inning where walks turn into runs. They have to take the runs when they can get them. Because Votto is the best hitter on the team, he has to sacrifice some of his OBP for some RBI in order to help the team the best. Once again, Barry Larkin would never agree with Votto or with you on this. I'm going with Larkin's intelligence in this matter.
