2 of the top 3 guys having an OBP under .290 is pretty rough. But man is it nice to have 4-7 with an OBP of at least .340!

Crazy to see how the Braves have 17 errors this year versus our 9. Shows how good our defense has been for the most part this season.

Also, based on the batting averages you can tell the Braves rely on extra base hits and pitching.

We've made a ton of outs at the plate. Votto and BP are both painfully slow and if all of RedsZone knows it, I wish the 3B coach would learn it. Heyward would have to have his back against the wall for me to send Votto on him.

I am going to say 93% of MLB players are out on that Heyward throw. Dumb move to test the known cannon on a very short-medium depth. Joey might have done it on his own and perhaps Smith sent him. Anyhow... I agree w/ too many guys out at plate this season.

Or he's just getting some really crappy luck. He actually threw quite well that inning IMO. He's hitting his spots, mixing his pitches and speeds well...just missed on one and as has been the theme for him this year, EVERY hitter is taking advantage of every mistake pitch by him. I'm a huge Bailey fan, but the problem is with him, not his catcher. He seemed to really have a problem with Hernandez, and then Mesoraco, he only "liked" to work with Corky or Hanigan.

Mesoraco caught every start Latos had last year, and seemed to do fine, and I would guess that Latos is our starter most like Bailey.

I just think it's a hurdle that Homer has to get past, I believe he will.

You know, the thing about him pitching into bad luck really looks true. First inning, if the pitch that Upton pulled to Frazier is 2' to Frazier's left, Upton is out. Then Phillips is in position to field Freeman's ground ball and they're out of the inning. Second inning, if Hamilton has one more step, that ball doesn't fall in for a double. No harm, no foul. Then third inning if they're playing not so deep, that ball doesn't fall in front of Ludwick and Freeman doesn't score. Bailey is fine.

I'm guessing the scouting report is to swing early unless you want to deal with that nasty slider. This is probably going to be extremely frustrating the rest of the night. We would probably all be better off turning it off and enjoying the rest of our Friday and go get them tomorrow.
